Announcements and Other Exciting Things

I hope you all enjoyed your extra long weekend!

In your child's take home folder this week, you will notice a behavior calendar. We will talk more about these at Back to School night, but please be looking at them every night!

On Tuesday, your student will be coming home with some book orders and a letter. Please look through them and see if there's anything you would want to order! Email with lots more information coming soon :). There is a link to the website for ordering below. Our class activation code is P6QR3 if it asks for it.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Thank you so much to Danielle and her family for sending supplies for our classroom!

Reading/ Language Arts

This week, our story is The Day Eddie Met the Author.

We will be continuing to learn about statements and questions, and introducing commands and exclamations.

Characters and setting will be discussed again this week, as well as realistic fiction and alphabetical order.

Root words with endings -ed and -ing are our phonics skill this week.

Our vocabulary words this week are: conquer, resistance, ponder, anticipation, assembly, dismiss, squirmed, plenty, patchwork, and autograph. We will have a test over these words on Friday, so help your student study them at home!

Each student will be given their set of spelling words on Tuesday. They will have some opportunities to practice them at school before the test on Friday, but again, please help them to study at home as well. :)

Keep on reading at home!! Sometime this week, there will be a reading log in everyone's take home folder. Whenever your child reads at home, fill it out! 20 minutes per night is our goal. More information at Back to School Night.

In language arts, we will continue working on subjects and predicates, nouns, verbs, and adjectives.

We are going to start the week with a review of place value up to the hundred-thousands place and a review of ordinal numbers. We will also begin learning about comparing numbers and ordering whole numbers. On Friday, we will take our first math test covering everything that we have learned so far!
