Flora Update

Wednesday, November 22-Friday, November 24- Thanksgiving Break

Students should come to the front office and check the lost and found for any items they may have misplaced since the first of the school year. We will be donating all items to charity the first week of December. Check to see if that lost sweater, bag, pair of shorts, lunch box, water bottle - whatever - is hiding in the bottom of the black bin!

The AC Flora Student Council is most grateful for the generosity of the students, staff, parents, and community members who contributed food and gift cards to help us reach our goal to provide 30 of our own Falcon Families with the Thanksgiving they deserve! THANK YOU!

The second half of our winter Flora Gives project is still underway. The Families Helping Families partnership with The Palmetto Project has 9 out of 30 families that have been adopted, as of yesterday. Please use the link below to sign up to help us provide gifts for the holidays for families in our immediate community.

The Falcon Regiment marched in the 45th annual Columbia Veterans Day Parade last Friday! They were OUTSTANDING! See photos below.

You have one more opportunity to see the 2023 AC Flora Falcon Regiment on Saturday, December 2, in the Columbia Carillon Parade! The parade starts at 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Sumter and Laurel Streets, and will proceed down Sumter Street toward the USC Horseshoe and end on Senate Street.

Today is National Parental Involvement Day. Family involvement impacts student achievement. Thank you for being a true partner in your child’s education.

The Dream Keeper Award was established by former Councilman E.W. Cromartie, II. The award recognizes exemplary displays of committed service to the tenets of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The ideals of social responsibility, political empowerment, diversity, racial harmony, nonviolence, and unselfish service must be demonstrated voluntarily by the nominee in support of his or her community and fellow citizens. High School Awards: 1st place- $1000, 2nd place- $500, 3rd place- $250. Applications must be postmarked by December 1, 2023. Click here for more information.

Underclassmen Pictures are today, November 16 (B Day) and Friday, November 17 (A Day). Students will go with their English classes to the theater to have their picture made. If students do not have an English class, they may have their photo made during Flight Time on either day.

To pre-order pictures online - and save shipping costs!- for your underclassmen, click here. This is only GOOD FOR PREORDERS. If you prefer not to pre-order, all students will receive a unique code that will assist you in purchasing photos after picture day.

ALL makeup pictures (underclassmen, seniors, and staff) will be taken Friday, December 1 in Rm 308.

Parents/guardian/grandparents, please plan to attend an event hosted by our Parent and Family Engagement Specialist. This workshop is presented by the Internet Crimes Against Children Division (SC Attorney General's Office). Internet Safety: What Parents Should Know will take place on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Crayton Middle School Auditorium. See flyer for more information.
