Hawk Squawk
We Are Prairie View
Happy Wednesday
I am so thankful to be part of such a supportive and caring community. With our Grit, Grace, and Gratitude theme this year, I am proud of our staff, students, and parents for doing things to show their gratitude. I have witnessed gratitude in-person when parents come in to drop things off and they tell the office staff, "Thank you for all you are doing!" I also witness gratitude when I am added on an email thanking a teacher for all they are doing to help their children learn and grow.
Please know, when we hear thank yous and when we are recognized, it goes a long way to brighten our day. We will succeed though this year and take on every challenge when we do this together.
Thank you also for all the emails and encouragements you have sent while my family and I were in quarantine. All things willing, I plan to return to school on Thursday. I can't wait to see everyone again.

Hawk Clinic News
We are so excited to see our students more this quarter! However, with more people in the building, we want to review some ways to help keep our Hawk Family safe and healthy.
Our clinic and school staff requested an open line of communication between home and school regarding any possible COVID-19 exposure or symptoms. Please contact the nurse directly and as soon as possible if your child or family has been exposed. You can reach Nurse Mindy at 636-625-2494 ext. 45233 or by email at mindygiger@wsdr4.org
Students and staff are asked to self-screen at home prior to coming to school each day. Students and staff exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend school. Symptoms of COVID-19 as currently defined by the CDC include:
- Fever
- Cough
- Rash
- Sore throat
- Shortness of breath
- Diarrhea
- Nausea or vomiting
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Muscle pain
- Lack of appetite
- Loss of taste or smell
All members of our WSD family will follow these guidelines to screen for symptoms of COVID-19 and must stay home if ill. Also, know that not all symptoms must be present, it can be any combination of symptoms. We are also being more vigilant this year with illness at school. We ask that if you get a call to come pick up your student from the clinic to please come as quickly as possible and within one hour. Students are not to return to class until they are completely symptom free for 24 hours unmedicated.
Please know that we are social distancing to the best of our ability when we are able but it isn’t always possible. We are requiring all grade levels to wear masks when we are unable to properly social distance. Please continue to work with your student on wearing their mask, they have been doing very well so far. Practice makes perfect!
Along with practicing their mask wearing skills, keep working with your student to wash their hands throughout the day and have them scrub for 20 seconds before rinsing (Sing their ABC’s, Happy Birthday 2 times, or the chorus of Let it Go).
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out. Continuing with this year’s theme: We are in this together and will make it through if we all have a little grit, grace, and gratitude.
