RICHLAND REFLECTIONS

Week of 5/4/20 Distance Learning at Richland Elementary

Big picture

Dear Richland Families,

It's May! I hope you got outdoors and enjoyed some of the beautiful weather this weekend!

This week is Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Everyone is balancing their own lives in this pandemic and distance learning environment, and we appreciate all that you do. I know you share my feelings about our amazing Richland staff. Please take this time to let staff know and encourage your children to let them know how very much they are appreciated. Words from the heart go a long way!

Thank you to Chrissy Hensel for putting together the video message below from families to staff!

Enjoy your week.

Stay Calm, Stay Home, and Stay Safe.

We are in this together!

Nicole Zuerblis

Richland Principal

Thank you for your responses last week about our distance learning experience. Our survey is collecting responses through Wednesday, 5/6.

Save the date for a live Google Meet for parents on Wednesday, 5/13 at 6:30 PM. We will use survey responses to address questions you may have.

COMING SOON...RICHLAND LEADERS FLIPGRID!

Big picture

What is Flipgrid?

Flipgrid is Microsoft’s free video discussion platform for educators, learners and families. In Flipgrid, educators post discussion prompts and learners respond by sharing short videos. The simple and fun Flipgrid Camera allows students to showcase their creativity by adding filters, stickers, whiteboard and more, all within their educator’s private class Grid.

Look for login info this week for students to introduce themselves on our private LIM Flipgrid!

This will also be the venue for Spring events such as Project PROUD and Talent Show! Stay tuned!

MEALS AVAILABLE FOR ALL STUDENTS AT RICHLAND M, W, F 11:00-1:00

Big picture

The Quakertown Community School District is aware of the increasing financial hardships faced by area families in these challenging times. We encourage QCSD families going through financial difficulties to pick up food for their students.

Bagged breakfasts and lunches are available to all families for pick up at Richland, Pfaff, and the High School M, W, F between 11:00 and 1:00. Students do not need to be present.

SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES

Visit this school district page for a collection of health agency resources, blogs by Superintendent Dr. Bill Harner and news related to items for families to know during QCSD's closing.

Start your week off right with a mindful Monday! Check out Mindfulness with Mrs. Schmolk each week for resources to support your children during this time and support for parents too!

A MESSAGE FROM MRS. STAUFFER, OUR SCHOOL NURSE

Big picture
This message is for parents of children who require medication during school hours, which is stored in the nurse’s office, such as epipens and inhalers.

Though some have or soon will expire, I realize that some of you are in need of the medication. Unfortunately, none of the district nurses have been allowed to enter their school to collect the medication.

To prepare for the day I can enter, I’m requesting you email me your best contact information by May 15th. Though I do not know when I can enter my office, this will help me easily contact you and distribute the medication in a timely manner.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult and unusual situation.

RESOURCES FROM THE PEACE CENTER

In these challenging times, The Peace Center has been creating online resources to support our students and families while they're at home. Their main project has been a "Peace Begins at Home" video series where they share peacemaking tips and tools that families can use to create peace in their households.
