How can I ensure that feedback is consistently academically focused, frequent, and high-quality?

"The link between feedback and assessment is a strong one. Assessment drives feedback, as evidenced in each time a teacher checks for understanding and responds to what has been observed. Even better, assessments used formatively shape feedback and instruction as the teacher determines what needs to be learned next in the face of what has been and what has not yet been learned. Feedback drives learning, as the student utilizes the feedback to improve performance. Grades are derived from performance on assessments that are used summatively."

Application of This Strategy

  • Utilize shared documents to allow for feedback, modification, and shared ownership.
  • Hold office hours for both in-person and virtual students to seek feedback and assistance.
  • Plan to conduct regular one-on-one check-ins with students in all learning spaces to give academic feedback.
  • Provide written and recorded feedback aligned to the lesson objective using available multimedia tools.

Hybrid Learning Strategies Webinars

Various sessions with an elementary and secondary focus on hybrid learning strategies will be offered to teachers throughout the mornings of February 26, March 5, March 12, and March 19. Sessions will support educators as they prepare for learning and teaching in a hybrid environment.
