We also host school-wide Flag Ceremonies every 1st Friday of the month and all are welcome to attend. Our PTA has done an amazing job in keeping our school spirit-wear well stocked and available for purchase.

Two years ago, San Onofre became the 9th school in California to become a Lighthouse School. But what does that mean? That means at San Onofre School, we believe every child is a leader and we are teaching and learning about the " 7 Habits of Effective Leaders," which is based on Steven Covey's Leadership Traits. This is just one of the exciting movements we have at San Onofre School.

Last school year in 2018, we also earned the title of California Distinguished School for being among the top 10% in our state to achieve academic rigor. Along with teaching leadership skills, we believe in excellence in academics and are diligently teaching the New CA Standards, providing a rigorous and engaging classroom environment, and incorporating a STEM-rich curriculum. STEM is an acronym used for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Our STEM Teacher on Special Assignment, Ms. Flaherty, will be providing all TK-6 teachers with ongoing support to ensure that we incorporate the Next Generation Science Standards and access our STEM lab. Teachers will also be incorporating STEM lessons through a structured Master Schedule.

We have some important information below on Morning Drop Off Times and Release times, Schedules and Back to School Night. Hope to see you soon and look for our monthly school newsletter.

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures at San Onofre School

Students should not be dropped off before 7:30am when supervision begins. Students are expected to walk safely onto campus immediately upon their arrival. When loading and unloading in the Car Drop off area, please stay in your vehicle. If necessary for you to exit your vehicle to assist your child, please park in a designated parking spot. In an effort to expedite the pick-up and drop-off lines, please remain in line and continue to pull forward. Only load your child once you are in the designated loading spots indicated on the ground. Please continue to pull forward if the spot ahead of you is empty or pulling away prior to loading your child. WE LOAD 3 CARS AT A TIME. When available our staff will support with loading and unloading curbside only. We do not encourage loading/unloading on the traffic side of the road due to safety concerns for all parties.
