Reading Events at Cougar Canyon

Scholastic Book Fair is Coming Back!

The Book Fair is coming back to Cougar Canyon next week! This is a great opportunity to select some great new books for the Spring. There are lots of wonderful new titles, as well as some favourite and popular selections.

Your support of the Book Fair helps purchase new resources for the school library. Due to the success of the last Book Fair, I was able to select a large number of new books for the library, as well as new technology to support learning in the library.

The Spring Book Fair is open from:

  • Tuesday, April 16th from 8:30 - 4:00 (open at lunch)
  • Wednesday, April 17th from 8:30 - 5:00 (open at lunch)

**Special Bonus: when you spend $25 or more at the Spring Book Fair, you will receive the 'My Perfect Panda Gift Set' that includes a stuffed panda, 24 page full-colour panda book, and a carrying case

If you are able to volunteer at the Book Fair, please contact Mrs. Fraser. All volunteers will be entered into a draw for a $10 credit to spend at the Book Fair

Thanks for your support and I hope to see you at the Book Fair!!

Reading Link Challenge

Reading Link Challenge is hosted by the Fraser Valley Regional Library and it is open to students in grades 4 and 5. Each year, 6 novels are selected by a team of librarians and the students spend time reading the books and remembering interesting details from each book. All the teams worked very hard this year and should be commended for their dedication. A school based competition was held prior to Spring Break and the winning team was selected to represent Cougar Canyon at the North Delta Challenge this past Friday morning. They faced tough competition from the other North End schools, and tied for second place among the other North Delta schools. They were only 1 point behind the winning team and they should all be very proud of their efforts.

Congratulations to the following students who represented Cougar Canyon at the North Delta Reading Link Challenge:

  • Anna Div. 6
  • Melissa Div. 6
  • Ethan Div. 7
  • Martin Div. 7
  • Vibha Div. 7
  • Hannah Div. 6
  • Ria Div. 6

Also, thank you to Ms. Buss for driving the team to the competition at Chalmers Elementary on the Cougar Canyon Elementary school bus. We really appreciated your help!
