A Message from the Administrator
Greetings MCS Families,
I am going on 17 years in education, with 10 of those being a music director and in my 7th as the administrator of this great school. I have to say by far this has been the best start I have ever had to a school year. I am in awe of my staff, students, and families in how well prepared everyone has been to start a successful year. We have gained amazing new students and are lucky to have each and every returning student. Our enrollment is currently at 184 students which is an all time high for our school.
This morning we had our first full morning meeting of the year. We had a guest speaker, Melissa Snow Williamson, to talk to our K-5 students about our compost from our school lunches and how it is used in our raised beds to help our plants grow for our science classes. We also spoke about our school wide matrix and how following it creates a positive experience for our school. Here is a link to our PBIS page that will give you more insight into this program: MCS PBIS
Next week our middle school students will have their ASB elections. They work very hard throughout the week to campaign and come up with "Mr. B. approved" speeches. I have been impressed over the years with the seriousness these students take to be ambassadors for our school. Best of luck to those running!!!
I hope you all have a chance to take advantage of the fair this weekend and visit our student exhibits and animals that are being shown.
Sincerely,
Tony Bonuccelli

Message for Middle School Parents
A Message from the Counselor: Get the school year off to a great start with routines and habits!
It’s the beginning of the school year—the perfect time to set the stage for learning success. Try these simple strategies:
- Get a head start. Many families find that organizing at night prevents morning “rush hour.” You can review school papers, pack and refrigerate lunches, set backpacks by the door and agree on outfits.
- Establish sleep routines. Choose reasonable bedtimes so everyone is rested when it’s time to wake up. Make sure everyone sticks to their bedtimes.
- Develop morning habits. If your child does the same things in the same order each morning, it’s less likely that she will forget a step.
- Choose a homework time. With your child, pick a time when she will have the most energy and motivation to do assignments. Create a quiet study spot (complete with necessary supplies) where she can work at the same time each day.
- Use tools for organization. Teach your child how to use calendars, to-do lists and a filing system for schoolwork and important papers.
- Set priorities. Schedule things like schoolwork, family meals and even free time on a calendar. Treat them like appointments. If there are open blocks of time, your child can add activities.

The course provides hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques to young teens who are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting so they are equipped with the skills and confidence to act in an emergency. They learn basic first aid, infant and child choking rescue, and CPR. Students also receive instruction on how a child’s age affects how to care for them, how to prevent problem behavior, and how to run their own babysitting business.
Students who graduate from a Safe Sitter® course receive a completion card demonstrating that they know how to use their skills in situations they encounter.
