M-Step Testing
M-Step continues for 3rd and 4th Graders. Our 5th Grade students finished last week.
Students are tested in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics. Additionally, students in 4th Grade will be tested in the area of Science.
Attendance is very important during these testing days! Please make sure that your child arrives to school on time and try to avoid early dismissals during the testing days. If your child is unable to come to school, we will have scheduled days for students to make up testing during the testing period.
Please assist your child in helping to perform his/her best by:
Having your child get a good night's sleep.
Having your child eat a good breakfast, packing water, and healthy snacks.
Encouraging your child to do their best and assisting to relieve any anxiety associated with testing. Positive, "You can do it", messages are helpful :)
Should you have any questions about M-Step testing, please contact your child's teacher. We thank you for helping to prepare your child for the M-Step and ensuring attendance during the testing periods.

Alpha Club is sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive on
Wednesday, May 3rd from 3:00-9:00 p.m. in our school cafeteria.
Please donate if you can!
This event will impact our regular dismissal routine for students who are picked up by a parent:
Our Kindergarten students will dismiss from our Main Hallway/Entrance. Parents picking up their child, should enter the Main Doors and meet their child in the hallway with their teacher to pick up.
1st-5th Grade students getting picked up by a parent, will exit out of the Main Hallway/Doors and onto the sidewalk where they will be picked up as usual.
Again, our bus riders and walkers will follow their normal dismissal routine.
IF YOUR CHILD ATTENDS KIDS CONNECTION, he/she will be in the Media Center for pick up.

Summer Bookmobile Coming to You!
The NSE Bookmobile is back and preparing for student leaders to take control of their reading progress! We loved seeing all our leaders each week last summer and would love to see them again. We found this to be a great way to maintain the reading growth your child has made throughout the school year.
For those who weren’t able to join us, you may be wondering what is a Bookmobile? Well, it is a vehicle loaded with “just right” books for your child(ren) to read during the summer. NSE staff members will be driving the Bookmobile to YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD every Wednesday throughout the summer. Studies have shown that children who read 6 to 10 “just right” books have a better chance of maintaining or even increasing one’s progress. Students: YOU DON’T WANT TO LOSE ALL OF THE WONDERFUL GROWTH YOU’VE MADE THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR AS A LEADER! THIS IS A FUN WAY TO CONTINUE YOUR READING PROGRESS :)
Bookmobile Dates: Wednesday, June 21st Wednesday, July 26th
Wednesday, June 28th Wednesday, August 2nd
Wednesday, July 12th Wednesday, August 9th-last exchange
Wednesday, July 19th
