Monday 'Minders

November 22, 2021

Message from the Principal, Mrs. Blevins

8th Grade Students and Parents,

This year, our 8th Grade students will be taking the PSAT 8/9 on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

This is a digital test which will be administered during the school day. Your child does not need to bring any materials with them to the testing location. You do not need to sign up your child or pay for the test.

Please note that the PSAT 8/9 is an assessment designed especially for grade eight

students. It is not the PSAT which your child will take in grades 10 and 11, but the results

are aligned with the PSAT and SAT. Your child does not need to do anything special to

prepare for the test. The test reflects the work that we do in class.

The test includes the following:

Your child will be asked to provide an email address to establish a College Board Account. This email should be a functioning email address as this is the way that the College Board will communicate scores and other information. We expect to receive these scores in February, 2022. They will be mailed to you.

You can learn more about this test at the College Board website HERE.

Chipotle Fundraiser

Unfortunately, Chipotle had closed due to staffing issues and our fundraiser was cancelled at the last minute.

Chipotle apologized and is making good on the mistake by sending us a check for $178, the amount usually earned at fundraisers.

Thank you to everyone who showed up to support NHD. Chipotle also offered to let us host a fundraiser at a later date. Stay tuned for updates.

Bring and Wear Your Mask

Please remember to send your student to school with a clean mask each day. Masks should be washed every day.

Water Concern

Students need to remember to bring extra water with them every day. Woodrow Wilson Middle School is still affected by the water ban. We do have water available for emergencies.

Here are two update letters from Dr. Bragen's update letter #1 and Dr. Bragen's update letter #2.

Q & A

What do students do if they have lost an item?

If the missing item is any of the following: eye glasses, headphones, ChromeBook, cell phone or jewelry, students should check in the main office first before looking in the Lost and Found. All other items can be searched for in the cafeteria, on the Lost and Found table.

What should a student do if they do not feel well while in school?

Students who are not feeling well, need to see Mrs. Fanik, our school nurse. Students may not call or text their parents to pick them up. All dismissals from school need to go through the nurse or main office.

What should students do if they run out of water?

All students should be bringing at least a 24 to 50 oz. bottle or thermos of water with them to school each day. Extra bottles of water should be kept in the students' lockers. Water is available during lunch and in the main office for emergencies.

Joke of the Week

This week's joke was submitted by Krisha Shah:

What did the shark say when he ate the clownfish?

"This tastes a little funny."

Students, you can submit a joke to be published in a future Monday 'Minders. One joke will be published each week, so look back next week for another chuckle.

Here's the form.

Student Poll

Here's this week's poll with Instagram and breakfast questions.
