Good Afternoon Shark Families!

We have had a wonderful nine days of learning! We have already started Project Based Learning units, our routines are getting set, and we are settling into a new school year quickly. Thank you for your support at home as well! We had our first Real Men Read this morning and we had a wonderful turnout from our community! There is a lot of information as we get ready to start family engagement opportunities at night next week. We want our parents to feel informed about Schoology. This is the learning management tool that students use while they are in the classrooms and turning in work. If you would like to learn more, we would love for you to attend!

Have a wonderful weekend!
Committed to Success,

Heather Touchberry

Ms. Martin - Top 4 Finalist

We are extremely proud of our very own! MAST teacher of the year, McKenzie Martin, is now a top 4 finalist for SDPC District Teacher of the Year! This is out of 24 schools in our district!!! We are extremely proud of her! We are better because she is a MAST Shark!

SHARK SWAG

We are so excited to introduce SHARK SWAG to our students and families this year! SWAG stands for Students With Academic Goals. They are represented by charms that students get to wear on a necklace or bracelet while they are at school. Students can earn the Shark SWAG for various different goals while at school, in related arts (IMPACT classes), for assessments, and for good attendance. Each grade level has specific goals as well. The students are super excited about showing off their SWAG and displaying their achievements each day. At the end of each quarter, students will be able to trade in their SWAG to attend a special celebration. Mr. Shipman is pictured above handing out attendance SWAG to Mrs. Small's class!

First Real Men Read for the Year

It was an awesome turnout for our first Real Men Read for the year. Mrs. Schmidt had a special guest read to her class, Mr. Josh Oxendine. He is the principal of Easley High School and is also Mrs. Schmidt's brother! Their dad taught at Easley High School as they were growing up. What a wonderful family we have in the Easley Area!
