Twin Peaks Middle School
Weekly RAM Newsletter
From the desk of Principal Mills
Dear Ram Families,
Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year! We are already three days into our virtual school year and based on the feedback I've received so far, it has gone better than expected! This is in large part due to the amazing teachers and staff we are fortunate to have here at Twin Peaks Middle School.
Our teachers have gone above and beyond in preparing their Canvas sites and transitioning their brick and mortar lessons for the virtual classroom. They have spent countless hours perfecting their Zoom game, preparing their Google slides and figuring out and aligning their on-line protocols for running digital classrooms. Our staff have been relentless in answering the dozens of phone calls and emails we receive daily to try and support our families with technology questions and enrollment concerns. Our food service crew doubled their efforts this past week in providing free meals to our PUSD students and community. I'm in awe of their efforts and can't thank them enough for all they have done to take care of our students as we begin this school year.
It's important for us to keep this momentum going and stay enthusiastic! We would all rather be back on campus - it was the #1 thing I heard teachers and staff share with me this week! We so miss having students here at school with us, and I know they miss being here too... but in the mean time, it's important for all of us to be putting forth our best effort. Students - please participate in your classes; be a part of the discussion and share out your opinions and experiences when your teachers are asking for students to speak. In this virtual environment, it is so important for the students to take a more active role in the limited face-to-face time they have with their teachers.
One final business item - SAVE THE DATE! The TPMS Back to School Night is now scheduled for Wednesday, September 23rd from 5:30-7:30pm. Please look for more information on this event and details on how to participate in next week's newsletter and on the TPMS website.
I hope you and your family enjoy your extended Labor Day Weekend - stay cool, stay healthy and we look forward to seeing you back on-line Tuesday morning.

8th Grade East Coast Trip
Greetings 8th Grade Families!
As many of you know, every year we partner with Apple Tours to offer students an optional annual east coast trip to Washington, DC, Gettysburg, Philadelphia and New York for the Twin Peaks 8th grade students. We are optimistic that by June, 2021 we will be able to continue that tradition. For now, we would like everyone interested in attending the 2021 Twin Peaks East Coast Trip to simply “hold the date” on their calendars. Please block off Saturday evening, June 19 thru Friday night, June 25 on your calendars so that you do not have scheduling conflicts later.
Based on news reporting, we are optimistic that by February, 2021 (and hopefully sooner), we will be able to make the determination of safe travel and have all interested families sign up at that time. I will send another update out to all families by approximately early December. I know we are all looking forward to normalcy and hopefully this trip is one of the many things we are able to get back to!
Please email kokeller@powayusd.com if you have any questions. Thank you!!
