JSE Monthly Attributes:
Characteristic of a Successful Learner (CSL): Strive for Personal Best
Bucket-Filling Trait: Respect
It's a Marvelous Monday at JSE!
Greetings, JSE Families,
Thank you for the apples! See the message below, you are welcome to drop off or send in a bag of apples any day this week. To make things a little different this year, instead of Funday Mondays, we are celebrating our week of learning accomplishments with Fri"YAY" Fridays with students and staff! Below is a highlight from Mrs. Miller's Fri"YaY". Ask your kiddo what they did in their room for Fri"YaY"!
This week, we finish NWEA testing. As a staff, we will be learning about how to utilize and understand student assessment reports. Parents can expect NWEA individual student report information after parent/teacher conferences. It is important for our kids to know this is only a benchmark assessment to "check what they know" and that there will be problems they do not know and this assessment will not affect their grades. With this being our first experience utilizing NWEA, we know their will be a learning curve for our teachers, students, and parents of remote learners. Thank you in advance for your patience!
Parent Teacher conferences are a few weeks away and our 1st quarter comes to an end on October 9th. Tomorrow, in your child's backpack you will find conference information, asking for you to sign-up for a phone or virtual conference time. Please complete this form and return with your child the next day. Your child's teacher will contact you early next week with your conference time.
Happy Fall!
Mrs. Barnes
Fri"YaY" Highlight in Mrs. Miller's Class
It's Fall Ya'all, another season to show our teachers and staff we appreciate them with a shiny, red apple!
Attention Families of Virtual Students:
THANK YOU: I would like to take a minute to say THANK YOU on behalf of all of our teachers. We realize virtual learning presents challenges at home as well and we so appreciate your patience and support of your child's virtual learning.
EXPECTATIONS: Please see the graphic below, thank you for supporting your child in following these guidelines.
NWEA remotely from home: Grades 4-5 will take NWEA this week with their class and Grades K-3 will take NWEA next week with their class. Teacher will communicate more information and directions for virtual learners.
LIBRARY: Virtual students can check out books from our library too! Check out what books we have,at this LINK and then let Mrs. Morton, lmorton@union.k12.in.us, know of the book you would like to check-out and we will put the book in your teacher's pick-up bin at our main entrance.
ATTENDANCE: What should I do if my child can not attend virtual school due to an illness, doctor appointment, or other absence?
The same hand-book guidelines for students learning virtually apply. Parents should call the school and report their child's absence for the day and the reason for the absence. The office will inform your child's classroom teacher. We appreciate the consistency for all student absences as this communication will support teachers in preparing for both in-person and virtual instruction.
As a reminder, the vestibule is open from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM. Parents, your child's teacher will communicate how they will use their pick-up bin and when you will need to come to school.
We have had several families change to in-person learning, if you choose to make this change or have any questions regarding this, please email Mrs. Barnes at lbarnes@union.k12.in.us
Attention Kindergarten and 1st Grade Parents: Enroll your child today!
