A Message from Principal Sarlos/ Un Mensaje de Directora Sarlos
It was a joy to see our kindergartners outside today. They were planting, watering their new plants, and releasing the butterflies they watched hatch in their classrooms! Thanks so much to all the teachers and parents who make this possible today. We appreciate your support, with preparing the garden, funding the garden and the butterflies, and coming to help keep the kids on the job!
These experiences where kids can get their hands dirty, and learn the miracles of the science of the butterfly life cycle are so crucial. We are so happy to continue to celebrate in-person hands-on schooling and now to welcome volunteers in to help us provide these rich experiences!
Hands-on learning is the best way to reinforce the language the kids are learning too! I enjoyed going out and chatting with the kids about the parts of the butterflies and the colors on their wings. I asked them to repeat to me: Alas (wings), cuerpo, (body) and anaranjado (orange), blanco (white) y negro(black).
We are doing lots of assessments at this time of year, and we educators love to balance it with singing and getting kids outside.
Thanks again for trusting us with your children,
Lilian Sarlos
Lilian Sarlos
