Volunteers coming to our schools
With the continued decrease in COVID-19 in our community, we are pleased to announce that the Monroe School District will begin the process of clearing volunteers to return to our schools.
Volunteers will be scheduled to work in the classroom at the discretion of the teacher. Please note that as in all years, some classrooms may not have a need for volunteers at this time.
Volunteers will be required to abide by all District COVID-19 safety protocols. Once your volunteer application has been approved, you will also be required to provide proof of your vaccination status before volunteering in a classroom. You may do this by producing your vaccination card, a picture of your vaccination card, or by having an authorized Monroe School District representative verify your vaccination status through Washington Immunization Information System upon arrival to your volunteer location.
Volunteer applications must be submitted annually and include:
Personal Information Collection
Statement affirming understanding of: Confidentiality, Discrimination and Prohibiting Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying laws and procedures
Criminal History Disclosure/WSP Criminal Background Check
Acknowledgement that our Volunteer Handbook has been read and verification that all volunteer requirements will be followed at all times
Volunteer Application can be found here
All volunteers, including one-time volunteers and visitors must:
Have completed MSD volunteer application and be approved
Provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
Sign in and out of the office and always wear an ID badge while on school grounds
Wear appropriate attire
Show respect for all students and staff
Share concerns regarding students with school staff only
Call the school if you are unable to attend a scheduled volunteer shift
Leave all personal items (including cell phones) in a locked car or at home
Thank you for bringing your students to school on time and preparing them for learning each day. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 360-804-3600.

We are working on our Coding skills again. As students continue to build skills in Coding they are also utilizing problem solving and analytical thinking as they determine errors in their programs and devise solutions. Grades 3-5 will be working on Scratch, an international coding platform developed and maintained by the nonprofit Scratch Foundation. Grades K-2 will get more age-appropriate coding practice using some of the engaging coding activities on Code.org.
Keep Calm and Code On!
