Sept. 17 - 21, 2018

Monday, we will review the distributive property or breaking a large array into 2 smaller ones. Tuesday, the students will learn how to use a tape diagram to solve multiplication problems. Wednesday, we'll learn the terms & meaning associated with each part of a division sentence - dividend, divisor, & quotient.

Monday, we will work on our accuracy as we read tongue twisters. Tuesday & Wednesday, we'll learn how to read various punctuation and play some games to practice our phrasing. Thursday, the students will work on their expression as they try reading in different voices.

Writing & Spelling

During our Writing time this week, we will work on how to correctly write dialogue. The students will be including dialogue in their narratives when their characters are speaking.

During our Spelling lessons, we will focus on words that contain "ew" or "oo", analogies, and inferences.

This week, the students will conduct their final two trial runs to see how far their glider will fly and how much cargo it will carry. After each trial run, they will be given time to make improvements. Tuesday, the students will complete their Science of Flight Review. Wednesday, we'll go over the answers to the review in class. Then, they'll bring home the review to study that evening. Thursday morning, the students will take the Science of Flight Test. That afternoon, we will bring this unit to a close by having our 3rd grade launch competition. Each group will launch their glider and compete to see which group's glider can travel the furthest distance & carry the most cargo.
