OASC FIRST
MARCH
BASIC AND ADVANCED SUMMER WORKSHOPS CANCELLED
We felt it was in the best interest of our students, families, schools and advisors to not put the additional financial burden on them to pay summer workshop registration fees at this time. We also know how difficult it would be for you to choose students to attend, not having daily contact with them and some of you in limbo, not having had elections yet. We do not want to add to the stress you and your students are already under. None of us knows how long or if our workshop sites will be open as both Universities we use are currently closed. Lastly, OASC activities are the opposite of social distancing and we want to ensure the health and safety of all who participate in our workshops. We look forward to seeing everyone next summer.
There will be a reapplication process for the 2020 JC's that will be due November 6th if they are still wanting to serve the summer of 2021. Any vacancies for JC's will be filled by our normal application process, which will also be pushed back this year to November 6th. This year's (2020) State Officers will work June 2021 BASIC s o that 2021 State Officers can attend BASIC. Then the 2021 State Officers will work July BASIC.
Adult OASC Staff will reapply in the Fall as well.
As stated the Friday before Spring Break, reimbursements for BASIC and Advanced will be mailed individually or to the school based on how they were sent to us.
For those schools who collected money and sent one check or have collected money and were waiting on a PO, this is how my district will handle individual reimbursements : give them student's name, their student ID number, amount to reimburse and a good address to mail the check to. They would create a vendor for each student and then cut them a check. Check with your individual Financial Secretary to confirm your process.

WHAT YOU CAN BE DOING NOW
- Pick up your phone or computer and share credible sources on social media about stopping the spread of COVID-19 and stop the spread of misinformation when you see it.
- The Surgeon General has stated that it's critical that young healthy individuals donate blood. Make an appointment with the Red Cross. They are taking extraordinary measures for doing so safely during this pandemic. Reminder that in Oklahoma sixteen year olds can give with a signed parental consent forms & identification while seventeen and eighteen year olds can donate with just an ID.
- Make a list of people near and far that might need a homemade card, outdoor chores, and/or grocery store runs and take steps to help these people out.
THE OASC IS FINALLY A 501(c)(3) ORGANIZATION!!!
STATE VP'S PODCAST
During our time as OASC State Vice President, Skiatook Student Council wants to better the OASC one member at a time through our Growing Leadership initiative. We want to give the members of the OASC access to tools that will help develop their own individual leadership. We plan to do this by creating monthly podcasts and conducting leadership workshops for select schools.
The monthly podcast will feature seasoned leaders across the state. These leaders will have great insight into developing leadership. Each podcast will be centered around one particular leadership trait. In the podcast, we will discuss the details of the trait chosen and how to implement that trait into your own leadership.
This podcast is about implementing communication into your leadership!
