Tiger Families,

The first week of school flew by! It was so good to see the students smiling faces as they walked through the doors. We are always excited to see students and families back in the building.

This is just a reminder that students are expected to walk to their classroom on their own. Any visitors who wish to enter the building must check in with Ms. Tewell first.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our staff and students safe.

Starting MONDAY, AUGUST 21st DROP OFF and PICK UP will be changed due to ROAD CONSTRUCTION.

Road Construction for Lebanon Avenue (from North Belt East to North Jackson Street) will begin sometime next week and approximately last until the beginning of October. Due to construction and the safety of our families we will be rerouting morning drop and altering pick up for our 5th - 8th graders. We apologize for the inconvenience that this will cause to our families, but ask for everyone's patience and understanding as we navigate this together.

ARRIVAL:

Doors will open at 7:30am in the front. There will be no before school extended care for the 2023-2024 school year. Please plan accordingly.

PreK 3 & 4 - 2:50 pm

Kindergarten - 3rd Grade - 2:55 pm

4th - 8th Grade - 3:00 pm

Do to safety reasons, all parents/guardians who are picking up students PreK - 3rd grade must walk up to get their student. We thank you for your understanding and support.

Students who are not picked up by 3:10 pm will be walked down to Extended Care. Extended Care costs $10 per day, per child from 3:10pm - 5:30 pm

Extended Care Handbook 2023-2024

LUNCH:

School lunches will cost $3.50 per lunch with milk costing $0.75.

Students from Kindergarten to 8th grade will have four lunch choices; two rotating choices, a salad, or a sandwich.

PreK will have three lunch choices; two rotating choices, or a sandwich.

Lunches must be paid for through the prepay option of each students FACTS account. Parents/Guardians can deposit money for meals into their FACTS Management Account

CHROMEBOOKS: 5th - 8th Grade

Please ensure your student is bringing their Chromebook back to school each day charged. Chromebooks that are not charged will be treated as the student is not prepared for class.

Water Bottles: Only clear water bottles with sealed lids will be allowed in classrooms. Water bottles should only contain water. St. Teresa School has refilling stations throughout the school for students to refill their water bottles if needed. (per page 44 Student Handbook)

Students are allowed to wear ANY COLOR spirit wear on Fridays. All spirit wear must be in good taste and say St. Teresa School on it.

NON-UNIFORM DAYS

Ensure you are follow the Student Handbook on non-uniform days.

Did you know that EMPOWER's Sunset is coming up? Did you know that you can help fight to keep EMPOWER Scholarships for St. Teresa Students?

There will be a Parent Training on August 23rd at 6-8pm Althoff High School.

We need parents to call/talk to Rep Hoffman and Sen Belt and conduct office visits.

Parents will be trained on how we got here, what they will hear from the legislators, and how to respond. The more parents that participate the more the work is spread around.

This is the LAST opportunity we have to save our St. Teresa families scholarships!

St. Teresa Parish Picnic is right around the corner! In order to prepare for the church picnic, we ask that parents consider bringing their child to the school office entry area around 8:15am on August 25th to help set up. Kevin or Ginny Bouse (618-410-1047/618-973-4378) will be at St. Teresa School to supervise and guide students on tasks that need to be completed. Students are normally finished around 11:15am and go to Cutters for lunch. Please remind your children that working at the CHURCH PICNIC is a GREAT WAY TO GET VOLUNTEER HOURS. Please reach out to Kevin or Ginny Bouse for needed shifts. Teardown is Sunday, August 27th at 8am and usually takes 2 hours.

All volunteers must complete the forms and training listed below by October 2nd in order to be allowed to volunteer in classrooms, class parties, field trips, etc.

Complete the proper forms and Child Protection Training. These forms and training are as follows:

• Application for volunteer service

• Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System (CANTS) form

• Initial Child Protection Training or Refresher

• Background check for those who have resided in Illinois less than 5 years.

A special Mass will be held on OCTOBER 1st.

Once a month at 11am Mass at St. Teresa Church, we have our "Children and Youth Mass" where our children/youth serve in the different ministries during Mass (altar server, greeter, usher, readers, gift bearers, choir). Please mark your calendars as the dates for the next Children and Youth Masses are as follows: September 24th, November 5th, December 3rd.

Our next Children and Youth Mass is Sunday, September 24th at 11am Mass at St. Teresa. Altar servers must be trained in advance in order to serve at Mass. Any questions, please contact coordinator Jen Broida at stluketeresavolunteers@gmail.com

Those children interested in choir (grades 4th and up) should just report to the choir loft at 10:15am that day!
