PTSA Spring Fundraiser!

Information packets about the PTSA Spring Fundraiser were sent home today with each student. The monies raised will go toward our STEAM/Technology initiatives and will help to provide tools that students can use every day here at Five Forks. This fundraiser will run through March 24th. We appreciate your support!

County Runners-Up!!

Last night, our Eastern Division Champion Lady Broncos fought hard against the girls from Pinckneyville MS for the County Championship but came up a little short in the end. We appreciate the support of everyone who made the trip to Peachtree Ridge HS to cheer on the team! Congratulations to all the girls as well as our fabulous Coaches Massey, Erickson, and Duncan for all of your hard work and for such an exciting season!!!

Way to Go, Broncos!!! We are proud of you!

Science Olympiad News!

Our Science Olympiad team had its Invitational scheduled for January 23rd, but it was cancelled due to "ice." The Invitational then went virtual with 71 teams competing from around the Southeast. All the results have finally been tallied and FFMS did an amazing job! Our team placed 12th out of the 71 schools! This is outstanding since we were up against more than one State-Winning team. Since it was a virtual competition, there were no individual medals for our 23 events, just a team ranking. We are very proud of how hard all of the students worked and are extremely excited as we look forward to our Regional competition on March 5th when both our A and B teams will compete! Congratulations and Good Luck to all of our Science Olympiad students as well as Coaches Coston, Byrd, Glenn, and Buschell!

PTSA Needs Your Help Next WeeK!

FFMS Parents: As you know, while our children have Early Release Days at 1:25 pm on February 24th and 25th, the teachers and staff meet with parents and continue their regular work and planning duties. Please help us show our support for them by sending in goodies for February 24th. Click here to sign up to bring in a treat! We appreciate your assistance and support!

State Survey!

Yes, it's another survey! However, this one is used by the State Department of Education to calculate the School Climate Star Rating. In response to the compelling body of research that underscores the importance of school climate, Georgia is the first state in the nation to include school climate as an early indicator in its academic accountability system, the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). The School Climate Star Rating is a diagnostic tool to determine if a school is on the right path to school improvement. The survey may be completed using your personal computer, smartphone, tablet, or on a computer here at Five Forks. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Parents are encouraged to participate, and the deadline is February 26th. Click on the link below. We appreciate your support!

Publix Partners!

Five Forks has once again partnered with Publix for the benefit of our school! Each time you shop at Publix, simply let the cashier know that you have a Partners Card at the beginning of your transaction. This card is honored at participating Publix locations in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. We anticipate using the funds to purchase Chromebooks and other devices to increase the technology available for student use in our classrooms. A letter with all the details and your own Publix Partners card was sent home today in your child's Report Card envelope. Click here for even further information from the Publix Partners website and to track our progress! We hope you'll join us and 'make a difference' for our school. We appreciate your support of this valuable program. Stop by the office if you'd like additional cards!

CJ Hickmon, Chandler Mullis, JoJo Oldknow, and Camron Starks all placed in the top 4! In two weeks, the wrestlers will compete at the Georgia State Qualifier. The top 3 finishers at the State Qualifier will have the opportunity to compete for an individual championship in Perry, Georgia. Well done, Broncos!!!

Community Book Drive!

We know that many families 'de-clutter' to start off the new year. Please gather up any gently used books (especially children's books) you're finished with or that your child has 'outgrown' and donate them to our Brookwood Cluster Book Drive in association with Cannon Church. There's a collection bin in our main office, so let's all fill it up! Click here for a printable reminder flyer. Thank you for helping Five Forks spread the joy of reading a good book!

Brrr! It's Cold Outside!

With the colder temperatures we would like to remind you to make sure you are dropping off your students no earlier than 8:15 am. The building will not open prior to 8:15 am EXCEPT on Help Session days (Wednesday and Thursday) when we make a special allowance and open the gym at 8:00 am to accommodate the increased volume of students coming to help sessions. We do not release students to help session classes until 8:15 am when teachers are in their rooms ready to accept them.

We appreciate your support in this matter as we want to keep all of our students safe and warm!

Bidding for Good!

Parents, please support our Brookwood Cluster by participating in the "Bidding For Good" fundraising auction! Funds generated are used to make improvements to our cluster schools and to help purchase valuable equipment and technology to provide rich and engaging lessons for students. Click here for a link to the online auction! We appreciate your support!
