Oster Newsletter
January 10, 2024
Happy New Year! We hope this message finds you well and that the start of 2024 has been positive for your family.
Upon returning to school in the new year, our students had an exciting experience with Smart Start. The main focus of Smart Start is to engage our students in the joy of learning and to build excitement for the second half of the school year. Our dedicated teachers organized a variety of activities, including those involving movement, buddy interactions, engineering, technology, and science, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable learning experience.
In addition to Smart Start activities, we took this opportunity to reinforce our school-wide expectations. This was achieved through our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and supports) expectations and lesson plans. The primary goal of PBIS is to enhance school safety and foster positive behavior at Oster. By doing so, it helps our teachers and staff determine the best responses to children who may face behavioral challenges.
The benefits of PBIS extend throughout the entire school day, whether in the classroom, during lunch, or on the playground. Through clear expectations focused on being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful, our students gain a comprehensive understanding of what is expected of them. This consistent approach promotes a positive and respectful school environment.
We are excited about the opportunities and growth that the second half of the school year will bring. Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment for all our students.
