SUMMER PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES
Surely you won't be playing Fortnite all summer! Go ahead and make plans for summer, including leadership conferences, summer camps or a job. Many great camps fill their spots up quickly, so you want to make sure you know what is due and when. Here are some great camps/programs to start researching:
- Have an interest in Engineering or Computer Science? Try Code Quest! Each year, Lockheed Martin hosts Code Quest, an annual computer programming competition where teams of 2-3 High School students each work together for 2.5 hours to solve problems by using JAVA, Python, VB.net, C, and/or C++ programming to complete the “quest.” The problem set consists of 15-20 challenging problems created by Lockheed Martin engineers and computer programmers. http://www.lockheedmartin.com/codequest
- Notre Dame Summer Scholars: Summer Scholars participants spend two intense weeks in one of 21 exciting programs of study. We keep the classes small and personal attention from Notre Dame faculty high. The coursework is a true preview of college academics—it is both rigorous and rewarding, and students earn one college credit upon the completion of a program track. Students collaborate on coursework outside designated class times, as they would in any college setting. Applications are live: https://precollege.nd.edu/summer-scholars/
- Interested in Medicine or Pharmacy? Samford University is hosting a Pharmacy Camp.. During the week of pharmacy camp they will experience hands-on learning about health careers in pharmacy, participate in tours of local health care facilities and local pharmacies, participate in compounding activities and hands on demonstrations in the McWhorter School of Pharmacy science laboratory. 2018-19 Pharmacy Camp Flyer Auburn
- Clemson Summer Scholars Program: Educational, recreational, and cultural activities allow participants to experience some of the amazing opportunities Clemson University has to offer. Students will engage in hands-on, immersive courses in their field of choice taught by Clemson instructors during the day. Afternoons include free time which can be spent exploring campus, attending a campus tour, or meeting a representative from Admissions or Calhoun Honors College. https://www.clemson.edu/summer/summer-scholars/
