VIRTUAL SCREENING OF ANGST: RAISING AWARENESS AROUND ANXIETY
During the month February, Katy ISD is hosting a virtual screening of the documentary Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety. This 43-minute documentary delves into aspects of society’s most common mental health challenges. It includes:
- Candid interviews with kids and teens who discuss their anxiety, its impacts on their lives and relationships, as well as how they’ve found solutions and hope
- Expert perspectives, (from institutions such as Stanford University, Child Mind Institute), who talk about the causes of anxiety and its sociological effects and resources to help
- Tips, tricks and strategies to help reset thinking patterns, push back against anxiety and support others
- Discussion around awareness that anyone can be touched by – and overcome - anxiety, via a unique and revealing interview with mental health advocate Michael Phelps, the most decorated athlete in Olympic history

- Are awaiting a COVID-19 test result
- Are test-confirmed for COVID-19
Reminder:

Applying for GPA Exempt Courses
The GPA EXEMPT tile is located in MyKaty Cloud
Click below to access the GPA exempt information for 2021-2022
Students will be able to submit GPA exemptions from January 4-February 18. No exemptions will be accepted after February 18th.
HOW DO STUDENTS ENROLL IN A GPA EXEMPT COURSE?
Students interested in taking one of the GPA Exempt courses must discuss this option with the counselor at the beginning of the course. If the student meets all of the criteria, they must:
1.Complete the online GPA Exempt application.
2.Submit the application no later than the end of the 6th week of each semester. At this time, if all criteria are met, it will be approved, and a course change will be made to reflect enrollment in a GPA Exempt course.
3.Once the student makes the decision to take a course as GPA-exempt, the decision is final and cannot be changed.
4.Students enrolled in full-year courses do not need to reapply during the second semester.
5.Students, including move-in students, who miss the application deadline for the first semester, may apply for the second semester if they meet the criteria.
