Meet the Teacher

Monday, Aug. 22nd, 4:30-6pm

225 56th Street

Des Moines, IA

We will have Meet the Teacher on Monday, August 22nd from 4:030 - 6:00 pm. Families can come in and meet the teachers and drop off supplies.

First Day of School

Morning drop off is in front of the building:

Drop off starts at 7:25 am. Please be mindful of others as you drop off in the morning. You may walk your child to their classroom on the first day of school. After the first day of school, please drop them off in the front of the school. Learning starts at 7:45 am.

Students pack up to leave for the day at the 2:40 bell. Options for dismissal are bus, Metro, car rider, or walker/parent pick up.

Car riders will be dismissed to the gym. From there they will be called as parents come through the car rider line. The car rider line runs down 56th on to Robertson and through the school parking lot.

Walkers/Parent Pick Up - student are dismissed to the front walk way. There is supervision there until all students have been picked up.

If a change needs to made to a dismissal plan for your child(ren), call the office before 2:00 pm. Please do not email teachers or administration with these changes. We cannot guarantee that email will be read before dismissal time.

Parents are asked to assist with dismissal procedures by making certain that children are clear about dismissal plans before they enter school each morning.

Kindergarten Kickoff

This year kindergarten will start differently. Students will not be assigned to their classroom until Thursday, September 1st, 2022. Students will rotate to each kindergarten teacher. We engage students in learning activities, schoolwide routines, and connecting with classmates. We will be sending letter soon about which room to go in on the 1st day of school. Just a reminder, Kindergarten Parent Night is Thursday, September 1st @ 5:30pm. Kindergarteners do not have school Friday, September 2nd, so teachers can prepare for their students.

*All students will be assigned to Kelly Carpenter in Infinite Campus until 9/2.

New Staff

Meet our wonderful new staff!

The 3rd annual District-wide OneRun fundraiser will be held at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden on Saturday, September 24th, with check-in between 8:00-8:45 a.m. The event is a 2-mile fun run/walk with an option to cheer on the sidelines as a supporter! Registration is free for everyone; participation is what will count.

Event fees will be paid by corporate and individual sponsors. Once participation totals are tallied, the money raised will be sent directly to the schools. Each participant may designate one school. The more participants and donations, the more money to the schools!
