The Industrial Revolution
Why the Pros Outweigh the Cons
A Change in This Nation
The Industrial Revolution was a major event in American history whose impact changed everything about the country. However, during this era, there were dark occurrences that were overlooked, such as harsh work conditions, long work hours, child labor, and pollution. The positives outweigh the negatives because they changed America from the farming country into the country of innovation. Many inventions were created, mass production started, and many job opportunities were created, especially for women.
Inventions and Transportation
During the Industrial Revolution, many inventions were created for our everyday lives. Inventions such as the telegraph and spinning jenny helped us do actions quicker and better. Transportation also got renovated. Roads and canals were major forms of transportation that were very popular during the time period.
Mass Production
The Industrial Revolution also introduced mass production, which made life easier for the people who made the product and the buyer, who could get it without having to wait a while. Mass production also helped the government, and boosted the US economy. We should be thankful for the amazing era to come upon us because without it, only a fraction of items we see today would've been made.
Job Opportunities
Many people were able to get a job opportunity as a result of the Industrial Revolution. People chose to leave their farm life behind them and get a city job. Women got the biggest opportunity they ever had at the time. They were able to work in factories, a big name being the Lowell Textile Mills.
Putting the Cons to Rest
The Industrial Revolution did have cons, but they were at a bare minimum when considering the pros. Problems like pollution, child labor, and long work hours are outweighed by all the great things we have now, as a result of the era of industrialization.
