Mercy Career Day The afternoon healthcare associates had the opportunity to go to Mercy Hospital St. Louis and meet professionals in a variety of healthcare careers within the Mercy Hospital system. Each career booth had hands-on activities for the associates to engage in while asking questions of the professionals. | Hi-Tek Limb and Brace Shawn Bright, founding partner of Hi-Tek, explained how he created his company and demonstrated the many advanced products they design and create. | McClay Adult Day Care and McClay Senior Living Jennifer Gettman gave an interesting tour and insight into her passion of gerontology and managing geriatric facilities. |

Operating Room Insight Carrie and Holly, both operating room nurses from Children's Hospital came to talk about the different roles and careers that are a part of the OR team as well as how some of the tools are used during surgery. | Nurse Practitioner- Gerontology Catherine Kush, Nurse Practitioner, shared her expertise on why she loves gerontology and her very interesting pathway that lead her to her current career. | BJC Emergency Preparedness BJC practiced a mock emergency drill. The associates were asked to be victims to make it more realistic. Insight into the protocols during such a major event was a great learning experience. |

Nurse Practitioners Speak About Their CareersMegan and Maggie, Nurse Practitioners from OUR Urgent Care and members of St. Louis Nurse in Advanced Practice (StL NAP) presented on the path to becoming an Advanced Practice Nurse, as well as teaching associates how to suture a surface wound. | Suturing Practice Associates practiced simple interrupted suturing on chicken breasts. | SCCAD Station #5 TourAssociates from both sessions had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and see how the St. Charles County Ambulance District (SCCAD) paramedics prepare and respond when dispatched. Associates toured Station #5, were able to see inside an ambulance, hear from a number of paramedics, and learn about the intricacies of abnormal heart rhythms paramedics look for when a patient is having a cardiac event. |

Associates from both sessions had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and see how the St. Charles County Ambulance District (SCCAD) paramedics prepare and respond when dispatched.
