Equity Advisory Committee-Invitation for Students and Staff

The Equity Advisory Committee (EAC) is hoping to increase student and staff voice this year. We are inviting all interested students and staff to join any of the following EAC subcommittees. The purpose of the subcommittees is to gather students, community members, and staff to propose recommendations for an identified focus area. Once these recommendations are approved by the EAC, they will go to the Superintendent for review.

  • Access to student programs (includes dual-language, special education, STEM, advanced academics, etc.)

  • Supporting LGBTQIA+ Students

  • Feeder Patterns and Boundaries

  • Engaging communities with marginalized identities to increase access to information

  • Recruitment of Black and Brown staff

Below are the staff and student survey links for anyone interested in joining an EAC subcommittee. The time commitment is about 1-1.5 hours a month for the subcommittees. Any questions can be directed to Sundal Ali (sundal.ali@austinisd.org) or Farid Razavi (farid.razavi@austinisd.org).

Thank you!

Student Code of Conduct Feedback Request

The Student Support Service department is collecting feedback on the current AISD Student Code of Conduct with the goal of improving the documentation for the 2022-2023 school year. Feedback from parents/caregivers, staff, students, and community members is important in guiding these changes to make the document easier to communicate, read, and understand.

We are asking that you give feedback using the survey link below. This anonymous survey is available in English and in Spanish and will be close to the community on February 12, 2022.

Welcome New Senior Counselor: Amyna Dosani

We are excited to welcome our new Senior Counselor, Amyna Dosani. She will be working with Ms. King to support and graduate all our students in Cohort 2022! Ms. Dosani comes to us with experience working at other Austin ISD campuses and is currently getting her master's degree at University of Texas. We are so happy to have you join our Crockett family!

Hi Crockett students! I’m Ms. Dosani. I’m so excited to become a part of the Crockett community here, and I can’t wait to meet and get to know all of you! A little about me: I’m from Houston, TX. I attended The University of Texas - Austin (Hook 'Em!!) and majored in journalism (totally different, I know). Then I returned to my childhood dream of becoming a teacher and taught for four years. Apparently I couldn’t get enough of UT Austin, so I’m finishing up my masters in counseling there (I graduate at the end of this semester, just like you seniors!). In my free time, I enjoy baking treats, playing board games (very competitively), and writing poetry.

Guitar Students @ Solo UIL

Congratulations to the following students on their hard work and success at UIL Solo & Ensemble this past Saturday

Michael, Oscar, Ace & Juanito also qualified for state with their quartet.

This performance was the culmination of months of collaboration & rehearsals with Brazilian composer Clarice Asaad. Some of our students along with students from McCallum and ACGYO wrote a piece with Clarice that was premiered Saturday. Documentary about this project will be coming up.

Michael also had his audition for the UT guitar program on Saturday morning and he got accepted!

The band boosters are running two major fundraisers over the course of the next two months.

One is the Class of 2022 yard signs we talked about putting in the chatter and the other is a mulch sale. The goal is to raise over $8000 between the two fundraisers to purchase next year's marching show by March.

Yard sign sales will run Jan 17 - Feb 14 and will be available for pick up at Crockett on Feb 24 & 25th after school.

Mulch sales will also run Jan 17 - Feb 14. The mulch will be delivered in bulk to the Menchaca parking lots on Saturday, March 5th.

Athletic Event Changes due to Stage 5

Dear Austin ISD Family,

There are new updates to how we manage our athletic programs, including mask requirements and limits on spectators at indoor athletic events, in response to Austin-Travis County moving into Stage 5 of the COVID-19 risk-based guidelines.

Mask requirements: All students, staff, and spectators will be required to wear masks at indoor athletic events unless they’re participating in vigorous activity.

  • Student-athletes will be masked at all times except when they’re playing the sport. That means masks are required in the locker room, in meetings, or on the sidelines.
  • The masking requirement applies to all visiting teams and spectators.

Capacity limits: Two people per player will be allowed into all indoor activities and are required to wear masks.

Health screenings: Student-athletes will be verbally screened daily to confirm everyone at the practice or game feels 100%.

  • Student-athletes are expected to self-screen and self-report if they’re experiencing any symptoms, including congestion, runny nose, sneezing, or cough.
  • Anyone who has symptoms should not be attending any type of school activity.

We will continue reviewing our protocols to be sure we’re maintaining a safe environment for our student-athletes, staff and community.

Respectfully,

Leal Anderson
Athletic Director
