What's Happening in First Grade?
Miss Campbell's Monthly News Letter- November 2015
November News
Report cards will be coming out later this month along with sign ups for parent teacher conferences. Sign up for conferences will be online this year. We are piloting a new sign up system, if you have any trouble with this or do not have access to a computer at home please let me know.
This month we will begin our first family STEM project. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. These projects will be sent home at the beginning of each month and students and families will have the whole month to complete them. When students are done they will bring their projects to school and present to the class. Have fun with them, they are not supposed to be stressful! If you have any problems with these or any questions please let me know! More information will be included in the packet being sent home today.
Reading and Writing
We are continuing with Unit 1 and students are getting into the swing how things are set up. Everyone did great with their very first spelling test. Every Monday from now on will be spelling homework. Make sure you check the Family Times each week for specifics about the story of the week and the phonics skills we will be learning that week!
We have been reading "The Day the Crayons Quit" and "The Day the Crayons Came Home." Students are now working on writing to themselves pretending they are their favorite color crayon! We are having a lot of fun thinking of ideas to write about.
Remember practice, practice, practice, your reading at home!! :)
