First Grade Friendsgiving Recap

What an amazing Friendsgiving was had on Friday! The students were the most adorable Pilgrims I have ever seen. Thank you SO much to all of the parents for their contributions and assistance at our feast. The food was so delicious!! I think we all had a wonderful time celebrating our friendships with one another. We are so lucky to be such great friends in first grade!

Checkin out the sun!

On Thursday we all were able to look at the sun with a pair of special safe solar viewing glasses from the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project. The first grade spent some time checking out the sun with these cool shades. We even saw one of the sun's spots!

What To Expect in December

Believe it or not, when we return to school, it will be DECEMBER! Where has time gone?? Next month we are going to learn all about different culture's holidays celebrated in during the winter in Social Studies. We will be starting Chapter 4 in Science (which is all about plants and animals). Students will read about plant parts and the plant cycle. We are going to learn about more long vowel spellings, as well as some special sounds - like the oo in "moon" and the ow in "down." We will also write an animal fantasty short story about an animal facing a problem in the winter.

Spelling words: along, behind, eyes, never, toward, pulling, how, town, down, now, brown, cow, clown, frown, crowd, growl
