Happy Thanksgiving!
Crossing the Finish Line The boys' and girls' cross country team finished their season strong with help from Coach Dixon, Coach Sanders and Coach Lloyd. Team members ran twice a week before school and participated in several meets, as well as the championship. All ranges of running expertise were represented and welcomed into this program. | Building CommunityWe hosted our first community open house this week in an effort to further spread the good word about Ridgeview. This event was for realtors, local business owners, neighbors and prospective parents. The Jazz Band under the direction of Ms. Prescott presented a jazz concert complete with solos for students and staff during our Thanksgiving lunch as well. |

Progress Reports will be in Infinite Campus Nov. 18
The final student progress reports are available to parents as of November 18 in Infinite Campus. As always we encourage a routine habit of monitoring your child’s grades weekly. Should you have questions, please reach out immediately to your child’s teacher(s).
iReady Winter Benchmarks
Students will take iReady winter benchmark tests to assess their growth in reading and math on Dec. 5 (reading) and Dec. 7 (math). Please encourage your students to do their best! We look forward to seeing each student grow when comparing to their fall scores. We use iReady winter results for next school year’s course scheduling. If students score below the 35th percentile in reading, we will also do additional intervention testing and screening this spring.

Dec. 6 Remote Learning Day Announced
Due to statewide run-off elections and schools being used as polling places, it was recently announced that students will have a remote learning day (no in-person school) on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Teachers will provide students asynchronous work by Friday, Dec. 2. There will not be live instruction or live class meetings.
Spelling Bee Information
- At the classroom level students will write a series of spelling words after being announced by the instructor. These words will be from the official Scripps Spelling Bee words. These written words will be collected and graded by the instructor. The student with the highest number of correctly spelled words will represent their class in the schoolwide spelling bee. One student per class will be selected.
- At the school level spellers will spell their word in order for judges to clearly hear the response. This will take place in the media center where spectators are allowed but must remain silent. Only students who qualified in the classroom level bee will be permitted to participate. The schoolwide bee will occur Monday, December 5th, at 5:00.
- At the district level the student winner of the schoolwide bee will represent RCMS. Additional details will be supplied.
- Word lists for grade levels, school-level, and champion-level are in the news & announcements sections / homepage of the RCMS website.
Information can be found at https://spellingbee.com/.
Optional Lockers Available for Spring 2023
Ridgeview plans to make the option of student lockers available for the spring of 2023. If your student may be interested in obtaining a locker, please read this initial information carefully:
- Lockers are optional, and any student who does not want to purchase use of a locker will be allowed to continue carrying a backpack.
- Lockers will be available for sale for $5 between November 28 and Dec.16 only through our online platform – no cash or checks.
- Interested students/families should purchase a locker on Online School Payments during the above timeframe. Students can show a printout or picture (please ask permission to use their phone first) to their homeroom teacher. As a fail-safe, the school will run a report of individuals who have paid online and will provide it to the homeroom teacher after the deadline.
- After the spring semester begins, lockers will be distributed to students who have paid.
- Note that students will only have limited use of the lockers at designated times during the day (for example purposes only: before 1st period, before connections classes, and at the end of the day).
- Requests for certain locker locations or top/bottom lockers will not be taken.
- Locker privileges may be removed at any time at the administration’s discretion for inappropriate use without a refund.
