What is it?

An ancient Chinese technique, Reflexology utilises massage on the pressure points of the feet, hands and ear for opening the energy flow for better health. It is based on the belief system that the acupressure points on the feet, hands and ear are directly connected to the organs and specific parts of the body. By manipulation of the pressure points, there is notable enhancement in the blood supply, release of stress and increased relaxation.

How can it help?

Reflexology can be used to help in restoring and maintaining the body's own natural equilibrium. This gentle and effective therapy will encourage the body to work naturally to restore it's own healthy balance.

Reflexology has been shown to be effective for many conditions including the following:

What does it involve?

A detailed case history will be taken on your first visit. You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks and lie on a treatment couch.
The treatment will involve a short relaxation massage before moving into the reflexology session which involves light, but firm, compression massage to the soles and uppers of your feet and ends with a similar relaxation massage.
It is a very precise treatment as the reflex points are very small. The treatment should feel pleasant and relaxing, there may be areas of the foot which feel a little tender and these will correlate with the problem areas in the body.

How often should I have Reflexology?

6 sessions are recommended for optimum results, this will however depend upon the conditions and length of time they have been present. I advise clients to have their 6 sessions weekly or fortnightly. After the 6 if they wish they can continue on a fortnightly or monthly basis to keep in balance. However there is no obligation to come for regular sessions, you are welcome to come for one session if that's all you feel you need!
