Dear Sycamore Creek Families,
This year Sycamore Creek is planning a Veteran’s Day celebration! Activities will include Music provided by our students, patriotic art projects on display, poetry readings by fourth grade students, and a photo slideshow to honor all former and active military families affiliated with Sycamore Creek Elementary.
The celebration will be Friday, November 11. Seating will begin at 9:45. The program will begin at approximately 10:00. If you, a friend, or family member have served or are currently serving please join us as we thank you for your service.
We need your help! We are asking families if you have an active or military veteran in your family that you would like honored, please send us some photos!
We would appreciate it if these could be sent to us digitally so that we do not need to worry about returning them in a timely manner to the correct student. We know how precious some of those photographs can be. (This can be as easy as taking a picture of the military photo with your phone.)
You can upload these pictures using this link:

Please have all pictures uploaded before October 21, 2022
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact:

or call the SCE office at: 614-834-6200
We anticipate that this will be a wonderful celebration because we all know our students here at Sycamore Creek Elementary are capable of great things!
Thank you for your help and support!

Therapy Dog Services at SCE
Sycamore Creek Elementary will once again be able to welcome and provide some therapeutic work to our students and staff through the use of our certified therapy dogs, Leo and Tucker. Our building therapy dogs are certified by a therapy dog licensing agency and have completed extensive training to provide support and service to individuals in a variety of settings, including schools.
Therapy Dog research reveals many positive effects as listed below:
· Encouraging communication from students reluctant to speak in other situations
· Facilitating practice of social skills and encouraging a safe environment for sharing
· Helping people cope with grief and loss, illness, or disappointment in their life by creating a calming effect and helping reduce anxiety or stress responses
· Raising endorphin levels in the body through stimulating these senses
· Lowering blood pressure
The therapy dog(s) will mainly be utilized through the counseling office in individual and/or small group settings with selective participants but there will be times that they will be available to visit with a classroom for arranged academic and social learning support. If your child has a medical or emotional issue that would prevent him/her from being near the therapy dog, please contact Ann Williams (counselor) or Rachel Ross (nurse) at 614-834-6200.
