Nuts and Bolts
- All staff are required to attend Wednesday's Academic Seminar. We will cover staff/student boundaries. Classified staff will be paid extended contract for time worked after their regular hours. I anticipate being done at 2:45. If a classified member has a conflict, please come by and see me.
- Robin has connected us with a group (Laughacecutical) who's coming on Friday from 2:15-3:15 to have some fun with us. Classified members can voluntarily attend this professional development. It should be fun and a great way to end the work week.
- Please remember that we use the term Winter Break and not Christmas as we enter the holiday season. This is a school board directive and not everyone practices Christmas.
- Each year at this time, I'm mindful that for many of our students, school is their safe place. As we enter the Holiday Season, please consider this and be cautious about how we approach activities. I'll share a sad example from last week. During the fundraiser handout, a student who has just been placed in foster care went in to ask whether they had anything to take home. They asked him "Who are your parents." He started crying and said "I don't have any parents." It's always best when we try and keep things as "normal" as possible.
Shout Outs
- Congratulations to Jacob! He's been hired as the new Night Custodian at Brown Middle School. Jacob attended Brown as a student a few years back. Please join me in congratulating Jacob and we'll miss him!
- Parent conference week is always a bit stressful and tiring. Thank you to all of the staff who directed and supported conferences. I know some of you gave parents some feedback to think about and I appreciate your courage in doing so.
- Wow! The raffle baskets are incredible. Ticket sales were brisk yesterday. Thank you to each classroom for putting together a basket worthy of some $. So far, I've placed all of my tickets in the U of O, family fun night and family game night baskets.
