Gandhi and the Salt march
Gandhi started the Salt March on March 12th 1930 and it ended on April 6th 1930. It was initiated by him to illegally produce salt from seawater.It was a direct action campaign of tax resistance and non violent protest against the British. Gandhi led the march from Sabarmati, Ashram. 78 people started the march with him, they gradually amassed more and more protesters. They traveled a 24 day march to Dandi to produce salt without tax. Gandhi then broke the salt law at 6:30 am on April 6th 1930. They were finally free.
