We Are So Grateful for You!
Monthly newsletters will continue to come your way along with emails, Facebook posts and phone calls to keep you informed about our happenings at East this year. Please be sure to check your child's folder each evening for updates about their behavior and graded papers/notes to help you stay informed.
We are so grateful that you have chosen Hallsville ISD for your child's education and we look forward to continuing to get to know your families better and to get to be an instrumental part of your child's growth and education.

Western Days Fun on Friday, October 4th!
Times for each grade level are listed below. More details will come from your child's teacher -
- PreK - 8:20 - 9:50
- Kinder - 8:50 - 10:40
- 1st - 9:50 - 12:00
- 2nd - 1:20 - 3:10
- 3rd - 12:30 - 2:20
Lunch times will be adjusted on this day to allow for our Western Days schedule. Sack lunches will be provided in the cafeteria for students that requested one using the lunch form that will be sent home today.

Red Ribbon Week (October 28th - November 1st)
Red Ribbon week is observed in memory of Enrique Camarena, a DEA agent who was killed in the line of duty. Citizens began wearing red ribbons on their clothes to show their commitment to drug awareness. Today, Red Ribbon week is dedicated to activities that promote healthy lifestyles and drug abuse prevention.
Monday (October 28th): "RED RIBBON WEEK Kick Off" - Wear RED to show that East Elementary pledges to be DRUG-FREE!
Tuesday (October 29th): "Our Future is Too BRIGHT to Use Drugs"! Wear Neon Colors and Shades!
Wednesday (October 30th): "Too SMART to Start!" Dress like a Nerd or Geek!
Thursday (October 31st): "Drugs aren't in our CHARACTER!" Wear your Halloween Costume or dress as your favorite Book Character! (NO blood, scary masks, or weapons. As part of a costume, hair color and face paint are okay.)
Friday (November 1st): "Back Up, BOBCAT! We don't mess with drugs!" Wear your purple EVERYTHING BACKWARDS!!! (Face paint and hair color are okay today.)

Fall Break (October 14th - 18th) and Parent Conference Day (October 21st)!
Fall break will be October 14th - 18th. We will not have an early release on the 11th. It is a regular school day.
Students will also be out of school on Monday, October 21st for our fall parent conferences. You will be contacted by your child's teacher to schedule a time to discuss your child's progress so far this year. We do encourage you to bring your student with you so that they can be part of this meeting.

Digital Resources
Parents, you can now find links to all of your child's online textbooks at textbooks.hisd.com. Click on that link to see which resources go to which courses and use letters sent home from your child's teacher to know how to log-in. If you ever have trouble accessing online textbooks, please contact us at (903)668-5990, extension 5019. We want to help you get connected at home!
Gifted and Talented Program Referral Dates
The HISD Gifted/Talented Education Program provides for students who perform or show potential for advanced intellectual ability. If you believe your child is academically gifted and would like your child evaluated, please complete an HISD Gifted and Talented Referral Form no later than:
Kindergarten - Last school day in December
1st-12th grades - Last day in February
