Keys Fillauer is President Elect of Tennessee School Board
We would like to take the time to recognize that the president of our own Oak Ridge Schools Board of Education, Keys Fillauer, is also now president elect of the Tennessee School Board Association (TSBA). Information from the TSBA site states:
“Keys Fillauer, Oak Ridge, served as the 2020 Vice President. He also served as the 2019 TSBA Treasurer. He is a former TSBA Board of Director, having served as the East District Director from 2014-2016 and as TSBA At-Large Member in 2010. He has served on the Oak Ridge Board of Education since 2001. He has served as Board Chairman since 2009 and was Parliamentarian from 2007-2009. He was selected for the All-Tennessee School Board in 2012. Keys serves as the current Foreman for the Anderson County Grand Jury and served on the Oak Ridge Boys and Girls Club Board from 2000-2007 and as Vice President for four of those years. He has served as President of the Knoxville Ronald McDonald House. He is a member of the Oak Ridge Sports Hall of Fame and Anderson County Hall of Fame. Keys has his B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga and is currently President of Fillauer Family Partnership. He is a retired teacher and coach of 31 years. He and his wife, Melanie, have one son, Parks, who is currently doing his internship in Clinical Psychology at the Michael DeBakey Veterans Hospital in Houston, TX.”
We appreciate the dedicated service Mr. Fillauer gives continuously not only to our own community in his role on the Oak Ridge School Board, but clearly, the roles he has served throughout the county and state in service to the betterment of our students. His commitment is evident to our vision for college, career, and life success for every Oak Ridge Student.

FAFSA - AS EASY AS 1 - 2 - 3!
FAFSA INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY TSAC
ORHS WANTS TO BE A FAFSA CHAMPION!
ORHS IS PARTICIPATING IN THE FAFSA CHALLENGE - WE WILL UPDATE THE NUMBER OF SENIORS COMPLETING THE FAFSA WEEKLY.
Currently 41% of Seniors have completed their FAFSA!
While Tennessee continues to be a leader in nationwide FAFSA completion, there is still work to be done. Students who complete the FAFSA are more likely to enroll in higher education, persist in their college coursework, and obtain a degree.
As part of the Challenge, THEC/TSAC plans to honor high schools who are able to increase FAFSA completion in their schools. Specifically, we are encouraging high schools to increase the share of their Tennessee Promise applicants who complete a FAFSA. High schools that increase their Tennessee Promise FAFSA completion rate by 5 percentage points OR have 95 percent of Tennessee Promise applicants complete a FAFSA will be designated as FAFSA Champions. We also plan to honor the high schools that have the highest FASFA completion rate and those that have the largest year over year improvement for the entire state.
