JROB Dugout News!
October 31 - November 3 #memorablemeaningfulandmeasurable
Daily Learning Intentions.. Supports students in meaning and the "why" I am learning this. J. Hattie's meta analysis research identifies teacher clarity with learning intentions has an effect size of .75 on increasing student learning outcomes. Ensure your students have the opportunity to be clear on their learning goals by knowing what, why and how to meet the standard. Kinder example below from Ms. Culling.
Mutual Ownership and Responsibility to Student Success: Parent and Teacher Conferences the connection.
Guidelines for Success.....STOIC components are a part of everyday school SUCCESS
Interact - November is the perfect time to enhance relationships with friends, family, and students. Remember that the holidays can be a troubling time for many children, so their need for attention (positive or negative) will increase over the next couple of months. When students aren't in uniform or are exhibiting misbehaviors, take a moment to talk to them. Ask them questions and let them know you are listening.
Thank you Ms. Marengo for showing every student that you care by saying their name as they enter your classroom. There are no invisible children in your room and we thank you for that.
Tech Integration with Mrs. Marengo..... Pre and Post Assessment with KAHOOT!
Not only do I love Kahoot! but so do the students! They get more excited to play Kahoot! then anything else I could offer them! It’s instant competition! Kahoot! immediately shows students their ranking within the class! For example on their own computer screen it will say “you’re in second place, directly behind Sebastian!” So they know who is either in front or behind them, and they loooove that! The music is super fun, engaging, annnd intense at times! Kahoot! also gives instant feedback not only to me, but to the kids on if they got the question right, wrong... I can see how many students chose which answer, if they’re really reading the question (you can choose how your answers are presented, the order of them, etc...). I know how to direct my instruction based on their results...Also, you can download the results into an excel sheet, seeing everyone’s scores and how they did on each individual problem!
Oh! ANNND students can create their own Kahoot!’s which they’re doing right now for a project they did in science, then the class can take their quiz!
