A Message from our PTA President

PRE Families,

As we reach the end of the school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for an amazing school year. The amount of parent dedication to our school is something we should all be very proud of and thankful for. Serving as PTA President has been so rewarding and seeing the dedication from our parents first hand is truly amazing.

I would like to thank this year’s executive board for making my job so easy! Sherri Stecher, Laurie Cockman, Ann Sides, Amy Toland, Tracy Battaglino, Denise Rose, Jennifer Greco and Erin Zumdahl. Thank you for the countless hours you have dedicated to the board. I have enjoyed working with each and every one of you. I would also like to thank the staff at Penny Road. We appreciate your support. The staff at Penny Road is truly the best!

Thank you for allowing me to serve as PTA President for the last two years. While it is bittersweet, I know that the PTA is in great hands going forward. I hope everyone has a great summer!

Bus Service for Next Year

If your (transportation eligible) child will be riding the bus from the same address to the same school next year, you do not need to take action. If you need to update your bus service, please go online at www.wcpss.net/busrider. All updates must be completed by July 24th.

Fly Up Day!

On Tuesday, Penny Road Elementary will host a Fly-Up Day for students. The purpose of this event is to give our Kindergarten - 4th grade students an idea of what is in store for them as they enter the next grade. During our Fly-Up, our students will visit a classroom at the next grade level for an overview of that grade level and a question/answer period. The class they attend will not necessarily be their class or teacher but it will give them an opportunity to see and hear what the next grade level is all about and the fun that will be in store for them next year!

Have fun at FIELD DAY!!!!

Great Job Mindmasters!

The MindMasters had an amazing time at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Michigan State University, where the team made lifelong memories. The team participated in the opening ceremonies, where 15 countries from around the world were represented, learned to pin trade and communicate with new friends, spent time with their buddy team from Mexico, bonding over pizza, attended NASA classes, had nightly sword fights in the dorms, learned how ice cream and cheese are made at the Dairy (and sampled some!), and competed with the best in the world, while seeing what it was like to live on the Michigan State campus! This team made Penny Road Elementary proud through showing class, having good behavior, being good sports, and giving it their all during competitions, even with little sleep, lots of pressure, and a tight schedule. The team competed in Ready, Set Balsa Build!, Division 1, and placed 21st, which is an amazing feat for a first year team and coaches! The team would like to thank the families, teachers, administrators, corporations, and friends who helped provide encouragement and financial support to make this trip possible. Watch the video below to see more of our trip!
