Kennard Elementary School
January 13th, 2022
Message from Mrs. Carey!
Dear KES families,
Happy Thursday and hope this finds you well!
Sodexho is seeking input from our students and parents for new recipes to serve in our cafeteria! I have already sent the link to all of our student emails if you would like to remind our students to complete the brief survey. The link is here if you would also like to participate in the short survey. New Recipe DIRECT LINK to the Survey for Students & Parents! The deadline to complete it is January 20th, 2022.
One of our priorities is to always keep our students healthy and safe! Just as another friendly reminder, we ask that if your child is exhibiting ANY of the following symptoms that you keep them home to avoid further spread:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
By now, you should have received a memo from our Superintendent, Dr. Patty Saelens, on the next steps for school closures. They will be based on "outbreak" percentages and will be determined for each respective school building. Please know that our staff is ready to distribute materials, hotspots, Chromebooks, and any other instructional materials needed to keep our student learning and schedule as consistent as possible. The 2-week virtual component will mirror our current school schedule and will not be altered. With that said, we will have some flexibility with "screen" time. In the event that this occurs, please know that we are well prepared and planned for our KES students!
If your child has tested positive for Covid-19, please contact our school nurse, Tracey Higgs (tracey.higgs@qacps.org), or our sub nurse, Jackie Leight (jacqueline.leight@qacps.org). If you need to contact our school after school hours or on weekends for a positive Covid result, please contact covidalert@qacps.org This is also linked below. Staff will provide missed school work for our students so please reach out to your child's homeroom teachers for any materials needed for pick-up.
January is already underway and we have some important dates to share with you! Mark your calendars:
