01/12/15 What we are learning!
Reading-
- This week we will be working on an article about the Titanic. Students will be using clues from the article to infer if the Titanic tragedy could have been prevented.
- I can quote accurately from a text to explain what the text says and draw inferences
- I can use context clues to figure out word meanings
Writing-
This week we will continue to draft our expository pieces. We will be focusing on using precise word choice, using transitions in our writing, and creating an effective conclusion.
- I can present my information in a formal style with a concluding statement or section that relates to the information.
- I can use transitions effectively.
Math-
This week we are starting a unit in decimals. We will be reading and writing decimals as well as rounding decimals.
- I can read, write, and compare decimals to the thousandths place.
Science
We will be finishing up our energy unit this week with electricity. Students will have a chance to work to find out what makes a complete circuit.
- I can construct a complete electric circuit by using a source, ,means of transfer, and receiver.
- I can classify materials as conductors or insulators of electricity when placed within a circuit.

Our classroom expectation is that students read for 20 minutes nightly! This is considered nightly homework!
