Parent 411- Out-of- School Learning
The Walt Disney Magnet STEAM School
Woww... It happened So Fast! 2nd Week Here We Go!!!
This week is the start of our 2nd week of Out-of-School Learning. We started with a few hiccups but I am happy to say that the majority of our families are up and running with our Google Classrooms. Ms. Baker, Ms. Washington and our ENTIRE PS 160 family have been working to ensure that our students are getting the best academic experience during these trying times.
We are working to make these coming days academically challenging, aligning with our Magnet PBL themes as well as engaging our students through a culturally responsive lens.
We are also mindful that working from home & now teaching from home is not easy.
As we move forward, let's continue the great momentum we have had from the start.
We also want our kids to have some fun as well! This week join us in our "Virtual Spirit Week!"
Show your #WALLYBEE School spirit. Participate in our School Spirit week by accepting our challenges then uploading a Selfie and sending it to kgray6@schools.nyc.gov. Submissions will then be sent out via Twitter & Instagram.
If you missed any of our great events from earlier in the year please follow us on: Twitter @160xdisney, Instgram ps160x and facebook @thewaltdisneyschoolparentpage

Google Classrooms 1,2,3
Daily attendance, Google Classroom Work & IReady.
Daily Attendance Protocol All students must log in daily to have their attendance accounted for. Schools must give an official account of each student's attendance. Students must log in by 9am and fill out the attendance form. We want to ensure that student's are getting marked daily. Attendance forms can be found on all of our Google classrooms please look under the Classwork tab. If your child will be absent for the day please indicate that on the daily attendance form. | Google Classrooms Protocol We have a suggested schedule for our school day. We are still following our regular 7day schedule from 8:00 am to 2:20pm school schedule. Teachers, Cluster teachers, AIS, SETSS, Paraprofessionals and other support staff are online for daily for 31/2 hours of classroom support. It is important that as students do their work online that they are completing assignments and putting their best work out there. This work is what teachers are assessing for our 3rd marking pd. Parents if possible please check your child's work before they submit for a grade. However, we do understand that due to childcare needs that the suggested schedule will not work for all of our families. So, it is suggested to DO YOUR CHILD's ATTENDANCE DAILY and contact your child's teacher to discuss an alternative schedule for assignments. | IReady is also a component that is a must in helping our teachers to assess our students. IReady is a a component for our K-5th grade students that they are capable of doing and SHOULD be doing completely UNASSISTED. It is self adaptive to the student to assess their strengths & challenges in targeted areas of ELA & Math. PLEASE DO NOT ASSIST YOUR CHILD DURING IREADY TIME SO THAT TEACHERS CAN GET A TRUE ASSESSMENT OF YOUR CHILD'S CAPABILITIES. |
