RES Staff Update

January 13-17, 2020

Message from Kelly

Thank you all for the very warm welcome back! It has been good for my soul to be here. I'm looking forward to getting back to a routine and getting to know our new students and new staff. As a small gesture to show my appreciation for all you have done for me, I am planning two snack days (one morning and one afternoon). I'd love for everyone to take a little time to stop by at the time that is best for you. Come to my office for some snacks and to visit. I'm planning to just be available to have time to visit with you and catch up. Your support has made a huge difference to me, and I am so grateful for each of you!

Congratulations to Our Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations to Christi Moran on being chosen as Robison's Teacher of the Year. Christi has served our campus in numerous leadership roles and is currently our technology liaison. Christi's willingness to help others, while also taking risks in her own classroom are just a few of the reasons she was selected. Christi has modeled continuous professional growth through obtaining her masters in administration and her willingness to grow by teaching at various grade levels--something she initiated on her own. Congrats to Christi!

CFISD Student of the Week Nominations

Do you know a student that deserves to be recognized? Here is the form to complete if you do.

House Cleaning

Please take a look around and remove holiday decorations in either the hallway or your classroom. Feel free to update with current student work. All displays should be neat and have a title. It is also helpful when there is some type of explanation about the work so others know the objective of the assignment. We also have to adhere to fire code guidelines (20% of the wall may be covered, and nothing 3D). Thank you for making our hallways and classrooms look nice!

School Board Appreciation Month

Every January our CFISD school board is shown appreciation at the board meeting. As a campus, books are donated in each member's name, and the board members are given a certificate of appreciation which shows the title of the book donated in their honor. I thought you might want to know that we do this.

I recently had a fifth-grader ask me what a school board member does when it came up in our conversation. I've attached a video that is appropriate for our older students that might help explain their job. It's only 2 1/2 minutes. Feel free to show it when it fits in with your curriculum.

GT Showcase Information

This year, all of our students in the GT program will have the opportunity to participate in a vertical team/community showcase. This will be held on February 12 at Cy-Woods High School from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. We are excited to be able to include all of our GT students in this showcase with all of the feeder schools of Cy-Woods (Robison, Farney, Sampson, Woodard, Spillane, and Goodson).

The district GT Showcase will be held on Monday, January 27 at the Berry Center. The schedule for our students who are participating is:

6:00-6:30 pm 2nd grade

6:30-7:00 pm 3rd and 4th grades

7:00-7:30 pm 5th grade

This Year's IMPACT Speaker

Each year, IMPACT is represented by 10 area school districts including Cy-Fair. Again this year, the school in each district with the greatest number of pre-registered teachers and staff who attend IMPACT will receive $500. Who will be this year’s winner? To be considered for the $500 award, you must have your teachers and staff pre-registered (as noted below) by 11:59 PM on February 5, 2020. Your teachers and staff must both be pre-registered for and attend IMPACT in order for your campus to be considered for the monetary award.

The event is free for all Cy-Fair ISD employees. CFISD attendees will receive 4 off-contract professional development hours.

Please register via My Learning; the section number for registration is #32293.
