Our 6 Tenants

At Greystone, our PBIS ( Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) has been connected to the earning of 'PAWS." This goes along with our tiger mascot but is also an acronym for 'People Actively Working toward Success." Throughout this school year, our PAWS initiative, as well as our Student of the month criteria will focus on the North Providence School District's Vision of the Graduate. At North Providence High School, students are expected to show adaptability, productivity and responsibility, communication, critical thinking and innovation, collaboration, and content knowledge. At both North Providence Middle Schools, students are expected to show variation and problem solving, preparation and responsibility, connection, versatility and creativity, collaboration, and mastery of skills. Here at Greystone, and at all the elementary schools, we are expecting students to show kindness and empathy, growth mindset, accountability, curiosity, teamwork and respect, and personal academic growth.

We will focus on Teamwork and Respect during September and October. These banners will be up on our hallways very soon!

Our Theme for the 22-23 School Year

Our theme for the school year is 'We Before Me' and it is actually an acronym from the book The Hard Hat for Kids by Jon Gordon. Every classroom will have their own copy of the book and we have lots of activities to complement it.

The Share Cupboard

Something new this year that we are going to try is the "Share Cupboard." If a student has something they did not open/eat they can place it in the Share Cupboard rather than throw it away. This will eliminate waste and allow another student to enjoy it.

Unified Schools

We are proud to partner with Special Olympics for their Unified Schools program.

“Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools is a program for schools Pre-K through university that intentionally promotes meaningful social inclusion by bringing together students with and without intellectual disabilities to create accepting school environments, utilizing three interconnected components: Special Olympics Unified Sports®, inclusive youth leadership, and whole school engagement. At its core, this Unified strategy is about unifying all students— with and without disabilities—using sports as a catalyst for social inclusion and attitude and behavioral change."

There will be a special presentation on September 15th for Grades 3-5, although this collaboration is for our entire school.
