Read A Loud

Check out this read a loud of "The Napping House" notice the how the book uses repetition, pattern, directional words during the story. Find a book to read at home with your child that has shapes, patterns or directional words to practice.

Center #1 Patterns and Tangrams

Watch the video on patterns with your child and then follow the links below for worksheets and games.

Practice making patterns with beads and string or pipe cleaners. If you don't have these you can use any items you have around the house.

Make your own Tangrams use the link to make your own tangram puzzles. Practice positioning and manipulating the shapes to fit the puzzle. These are great ways to build on problem solving skills!

Watch the video below about shapes and then use the links and games to create shape activities at home with your child. Use play dough, wiki sticks, paint, sidewalk chalk, stickers etc. to form and draw shapes.

You can also have fun going on shape hunts around your house or neighborhood and make your own shape book!

Center # 3 Positional Words

An important skill for our incoming Kindergarten Learners is to know positional words and how to apply that to everyday life activities. Practice this Simon Says sheet with your child. Have your child make their your own list for you or other family members to do.
