World War II

The Beginning

World War II started in the year of 1939. In 1939 Hitler and soviet leader Joseph stalin the Germen-Soviet Nonaggression pact, which incited a frenzy of worry in London and Paris. World War II did not start off with guns and shooting. Within a week Great Britain was joined in the war by Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, and India. The US had protested the actions of these Countries. Along with World War I, World War II was one of the great watershed in 20th-century geopolitical history.

With Britain facing Germany in Europe, the United States was the only nation capable of combating Japanese aggression, which by late 1941 included an expansion of its ongoing war with China and the seizure of European colonial holdings in the Far East. On December 7, 1941, 360 Japanese aircraft attacked the major U.S. naval base at Pearl Harber in Hawaii, taking the Americans completely by surprise and claiming the lives of more than 2,300 troops.
