Welcome Back to School Family Letter
Dear Solorio Families,
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! It’s going to be another exhilarating year of achievement and excellence. Thank you in advance for your continued commitment to your child's educational future. Parent participation, collaboration, and support are so important to us. I am looking forward to working with you to provide an amazing learning experience for your family.
First, it is my pleasure to share our new district and school theme for 2023-2024, “Reaching New Heights!” Solorio’s admin team and I would like you to join us this year as we rise to new elevations together. We will continue to explore ways to demonstrate our mission and achieve our vision. Joining us on our climb to success is our new Assistant Principal of Student Services - Title 1, Mrs. Jamie O'Hara and our new Student Success Coach, Mrs. Bailee Campbell. Additionally, we are delighted to welcome Miss Cook (4th Grade), Mrs. Frazier (4th Grade), Ms. Molinaro (1st/2nd Grade), Mr. Peralta (Band), Mr. Rose (PE) and Miss Windt (4th grade) to our teaching staff. Along with the rest of the Solorio staff, they are excited to work with our supportive and welcoming families this school year.
Next, I would like to share that more school information will be available on the first day of school. Our school office is open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Please feel free to call the office at (909) 357-8691 or stop by if you have questions. Be sure to frequent our website for up-to-date information.
Lastly, it is a tradition to remind you that Solorio Elementary School is extraordinary because of the cooperative efforts of our entire community, including students, parents, teachers, and staff. I am honored to be the principal of this great school, and I am looking forward to working with you to make this an amazing school year. We will start the year strong as we focus on “Reaching New Heights!”

Class Assignments
Class assignment lists will be available online this year. You will find the link on the district's website on Wednesday, August 2nd at 4:00 p.m. for Preschool and TK; Thursday, August 3rd at 4:00 p.m. for grades Kinder through 5th grade. Before you can view your child's class assignment, you must complete the annual Data Confirmation process for the 2023-24 school year. Use this link to view your student's teacher, and following the steps provided. If you need any support, please contact the school office. We would be happy to help you navigate the system.
First Day of School
For TK-5th grade students, our campus opens for students at 7:45 a.m. Students should proceed to the MPR for free breakfast. Then, students should head to the hardcourt where they will be allowed to walk and talk until the first bell rings. Our first bell rings at 8:08 a.m. Students should arrive at school before the first bell. Once the bell rings, students will line up on the hardcourts, and teachers will pick up their students and take them to classrooms. Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to start the day when the 8:15 bell rings. Those students who come to their class after the 8:15 bell rings will be marked tardy and will receive a pass to enter campus through the front office.
To assist your student with finding a teacher, we suggest that families write the student's name and teacher's name on an index card or piece of paper. Please give it to your child before they arrive on campus.
The preschool, transitional kinder (TK), and kindergarten students will receive specific information for student drop off and pick up at orientation. Please check the calendar for orientation times.
Back to School Night
You'll want to be sure to mark your calendar for Tuesday evening, August 8th, for our Back to School Night. The evening will start at 5:15 p.m. by the outside stage with a brief PTA meeting. Starting at 5:30 p.m., you will have the opportunity to visit your child's classroom for a brief presentation by the teacher. Each teacher will deliver two presentations. One will begin at 5:30 p.m. The other presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. The information will be the same in each presentation.
PTA
You will soon receive information from our very active PTA. PTA is a great way for families to get involved in the school community and support our efforts to maintain a positive school climate. We hope you will join the PTA and participate in the many PTA-sponsored activities throughout the year. If every family helped with just one activity this year, our student opportunities would be even greater. Whether you decide to take on a leadership role or offer "behind-the-scenes" support, you are needed by our PTA and by our students!
Family Expectations Safety Procedures for Student Arrival and Release
Thank you for observing the following school parking lot safety rules when driving your children to and from school. Please ensure that anyone you’ve designated to help you with this responsibility understands these procedures as well.
Etiwanda School District Updates
Breakfast & Lunch Program
As a partner in education, the Etiwanda School District Child Nutrition Department participates in the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program.
For the 2023-2024 school year, all elementary and middle school sites will continue to participate in a breakfast program. Students arriving at 7:45 AM in elementary (Grades TK-5) and middle school may participate in the free breakfast program. Healthy meals are available every school day to students attending Etiwanda School District classes.
Under the California Universal Meals Program, breakfast and lunch are free of charge. There is no requirement to complete a meal application although it is encouraged. Meal applications, menus, and other up-to-date information can be found on the Child Nutrition website.
Menu Change Disclaimer: Due to ongoing supply chain issues, menus are subject to change without notice.
Please consider dropping your students off at 7:45 so they can participate in the breakfast program. For those students who are dropped off early, our kitchen will provide breakfast from 7:45-8:05. Supervision will begin at 7:45 in the MPR.
Childcare
The Etiwanda School District is pleased to offer before and after-school childcare for students here at Solorio. This program is under the direction of the district child care office. For information and to register a child, please call (909) 803-3988 or click here to access the district website.
CARES Counseling
Etiwanda School District offers a school-based clinical counseling program (C.A.R.E.S) which provides a variety of counseling services and supports for our students. The C.A.R.E.S (Counseling & Advocacy for Relational and Emotional Support) program assists our students who are struggling with social, emotional or mental wellbeing challenges that may negatively impact learning.
