Romeo and Juliet
people should not be naive with love, they could get hurt
act 1; scene 5
When Juliet first meets Romeo she says "Too early seen unknown, and known too late!' (pg.1018 line 155). Juliet is speaking to the nurse because she wants to know who Romeo is. This shows the relation to the theme because Juliet is falling in love with Romeo and thinks she's going to spend her life with him, which could lead to her getting hurt because that kind of relationship usually doesn't work out.
act 5; scene 3
Juliet is threatening to kill herself towards the end of the story when she says "This is thy sheath; There rust, and let me die." (pg 1098 lines 183). Juliet is speaking to fate because she is telling it she is going to kill herself over the grief of Romeo. This is relavent to the theme because Juliet was naive thinking she was in love with Romeo so she takes a potion to help them be together which could potentially kill her itself or make her commit suicide.
act 4; scene 3
"'Farewell! God knows when we shall meet again....What if this mixture do not work at all?'" (pg 1079 lines 16-23). Juliet is again speaking to fate because she is concerned that Friar Laurence gave her poison. This is relavent to the theme because Juliet is willing to drink this poison and kill herself in order to be with Romeo which one can potentially hurt her and the other option kills her.
act 5; scene 3
"' O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die!'" (pg. 1096 lines 23-24). This is relavent to the theme because Romeo is killing himself in order to be with Juliet, even though he met her less than 5 days ago he is hurting himself and others just to be with her.
