Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and honoring what we are thankful for. We cannot even begin to count the ways in which we are thankful for our entire faculty, staff and our supportive parental community. Special shout out to our Superintendents and the Technology Department. Their forward thinking, vision, and hard work is what has made our district reopening plan a real success. Again, we hope everyone has a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving break!

Beacon Plans to Continue with Hybrid-In Person Learning after Thanksgiving
There is a lot of discussion in the region about schools possibly closing during the holiday period due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. I wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that we will continue after Thanksgiving with our Hybrid-In Person reopening plan for students.
Here are a few reasons why we are continuing with our plan:
- We believe that our reopening plan is cautious and safe.
- The county health department has advised us not to close.
- The Beacon City School District is currently not in a yellow, orange, or red microcluster area so we do not have to close schools by that standard. The state has a plan for school closures based on monitoring “micro-clusters” by zip code and census tracts and when case rates are over a certain amount labeling them yellow, orange, and red. If a school or school district is in the yellow zone they can stay open if they test 20% of their students and staff on a weekly basis.

Scenes from around the building!
Although the school year looks very different, the RMS faculty are finding ways to bring normalcy back to our student's school days. Outside classrooms are being utilized, the sound of our band can be heard while students are playing at recess and teachers are putting precautions in place so group work and collaboration can still happen. Engaging students in learning is still a top priority!
