Principal's Note
Due to recent cold/snow days causing the cancelation of school, the district will eliminate some early release Wednesdays in order to make up the instructional time with students. We will now have school a full day (8:30-3:35) on the following Wednesdays: March 13, 20, April 3, 10, 17, 24, May 1 and 8.
One School-One Book - From Mrs. Perkins
For Prairie View’s One School, One Book project, each student received a copy of Pie by Sarah Weeks, courtesy of our PTO. The books were handed out after a special school-wide assembly introducing the program. We will be completing the assigned reading entirely at school this year. However, we encourage students to bring their books home to share their adventure with you. Reading (and rereading) aloud at home is valuable because it not only prepares your child to be an effective reader, it is also a fun, worthwhile family activity. With the One School, One Book program, we aim to build a community of readers at our school. There are various activities planned in which we will explore the book together throughout this project. Please follow along by checking out our One School, One Book website: https://pie2019.weebly.com.

Specials Report - Phy Ed. Classes - Mr. Moser
We have been staying very busy in physical education classes the past couple weeks. Hopefully, your children have been coming home talking about cup stacking and tumbling! Our cup stacking unit has improved since last year with the addition of another timer and two more speed stack mats. We also introduced large buckets for cup stacking competitions. The students were excited to see the new speed stack records for each grade level at Prairie View. I am in the progress of making a permanent school record list so students have a goal to accomplish for upcoming years. I love teaching cup stacking because it is something completely different than what I usually teach. It is great to see what students excel and take an interest in this sport.
With all of the snow/cold days in the last few weeks I had to play catch up with a few classes, so we started our tumbling unit a week later than scheduled. Tumbling is a favorite activity for a lot of our students. The older grades will work with groups to create a tumbling routine, while the younger grades will focus more on tumbling progressions and performing skills in a safe manner.
In the upcoming weeks students can look forward to the introduction of bowling and volleyball!
4th Grade - Perseverance
Fourth grade brings the trait of PERSEVERANCE to the table, such an important ingredient in success! We persevere in so many ways every day. Currently, we have shown perseverance when debating as a Continental Congress. For the record, had our debate been historically accurate, we would have never gone to war with Britain, as the loyalists won.
