2019-2020 Updates
Lockers
Dear Parents,
It has been brought to my attention that there are some concerns pertaining to the recent notification you received regarding our changing locker policy.
I am thankful for the opportunity to take a moment to provide more explanation as to how our campus arrived at the decisions on lockers for the coming school year.
Over the course of this past year, the Collins staff has been working with a program called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support, also known as PBIS, to ensure our focus on students social and emotional learning and well-being. This is an intensive three-year training process. We are currently finishing the first year of training in “Foundations”. We have compiled a representative team of teachers who have been working diligently to gather factual data and feedback to ensure we are doing all that we can, as a learning community, to implement best practices and provide optimal measures of student supervision and instruction. Consistently monitoring and reconfiguring classroom transition times has been a large focus of this task group; which is how the pilot program of eliminating locker usage came into consideration.
I wanted to take this opportunity to reassure you that the health, safety, and overall well-being of our students has always been, and continues to be, our top priority as a school. This is a continual process and we as a Foundations committee are constantly reassessing how to most efficiently and successfully address student and campus needs.
During the summer, as you purchase materials for the coming year, please keep in mind that large size binders are not needed or required and will add unnecessary weight to the backpack. A simple folder system or lightweight multi plastic organizer is all that is necessary to store class paper work.
As a team, our teachers and families will monitor student backpacks to ensure that the school required materials are a safe a manageable weight.
I do hope that this has provided some clarity regarding your questions and concerns, but welcome any and all constructive feedback regarding this matter. It is a privilege and joy to oversee your children as their principal.
Sincerely,
Shelli LeBlanc

InfoSnap
The Conroe Independent School District is excited to announce an online student data validation system for the upcoming school year, powered by InfoSnap. The system is a secure and green process, which allows the district to verify all the student demographic, emergency and medical information for your child prior to the start of the new school year.
This online process replaces all the hard copy student registration forms that your child brings home on the first day of school.
On July 8th you will receive an email from the Conroe Independent School District with instructions on how to access the system for your student. The email will contain a link and a secure “snapcode” that links directly to your student’s information.
If you do not have an email registered with the District, you will receive a letter. You will create an account, that you will use each year for this process, and submit a form for each student in your family. To make the process easier for families with multiple students, you will have the option to copy all generic family information to all other students in your family.
We would appreciate all families to take action and complete these forms as soon as possible after receiving the letter/email. Your student’s registration will not be complete until the forms have been submitted. If you do not have access to the Internet, there will be computers available at the school to complete the forms.
