Fall II Athletics Update

Fall II Football and Game Day Cheer Season

I know that many fans of our high school teams have been paying close attention to updates to spectator guidelines released by the MIAA and the EEA. While we are all look to a future that allows for unlimited spectators at contests, these releases are guidelines only, and the number of spectators permitted at games is controlled by the schools involved or the group of schools that is competing against one another.

At this time, the number of spectators permitted at contests is managed by local control. The athletic department will communicate via the athletic webpage and Twitter as each contest draws near. While this isn't optimum for planning purposes, it is the best that can be done at this time. Unless otherwise communicated, two (2) adult spectators will be permitted at home games. These spectators will need a spectator pass and will need to check in with a game administrator at the gate. Also, they will need to identify the student-athlete they are there to see. Once a player has been noted as having two spectators no other spectators will be permitted for that player.

For clarity, below is a list of our home games for which (2) spectators will be permitted:

4/9/21 Varsity Leicester vs. Nipmuc High School 4:30 PM at Tantasqua High School

4/17/21 JV Leicester vs. BVT 9:30 AM at BVT

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sports Modifications

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the sports played during Fall Season II will be modified for safety. A link to those modifications is below. Student-athletes are encouraged to read and to familiarize themselves with these modifications for their sport.

  • Do well in your classes.

  • Get involved in extracurricular activities/community service if you have not yet.

News & Community Connections

New website helps families navigate the mental health system in Massachusetts

  • COVID-19 is putting incredible pressure on families. Many families are worried about their child’s mental health, but they aren’t sure where to turn or how to get started. HandholdMA.org, a new family-friendly website, can help. The website, created by a team of mental health and child development experts in partnership with parents who have “been there,” was designed for parents of school-aged children in Massachusetts. Handhold has three main sections:

    • Should I worry? Helps parents explore if their kid is just being a kid, or if their behavior is something to worry about. Parents can learn about signs to look for and get suggestions on what to do next.

    • What can I do? Tips, tools, and strategies that have worked for other families, sorted by topic, and picked by Handhold. These are things parents can learn about or do from home.

    • Who can help? Carefully selected community organizations and government resources to help families find the right mental health services.
